2018 What's Poppin' Edition 5
Reminders and Tips: Show & Sell Order
The deadline for your Show and Sell order will soon be here. To help ensure that this process goes smoothly here are a few reminders and tips;

Make sure that your unit has filed a 2018 Unit Commitment Form. Trails End zeros out the system every year. If you have not filed a commitment form, we do not have the information necessary to load you into the system. This will prohibit you from placing an order.

80% rule. Every returning unit’s threshold of 80% of their combined sales was on the sticker of their Popcorn Packet. This is the maximum order you can place without filing a Show and Sell Orders and Return Policy Form. There are two exceptions to this. First, if you have had a previous high seller transfer to your unit we will work with you to ensure they have enough corn to cover their needs. Please let us know the amount they sold last year. Second, if your unit conducted an early Take Order you can order the corn that you need to cover those sales. Both will require in writing why you wish to order over your threshold. All other orders over the 80% will not be processed without the accompanying form. Your 80% includes both Popcorn and Nuts.
You can use the Unit Potential Worksheet tool on the Website to help you assemble your order.

Due date. Orders need to be placed by the due date of August 22 nd . If you are having issues, contact your District Kernel or Executive. We strongly suggest that you do not wait till the last minute of the deadline in case you run into issues.

Submit. Be sure to submit your order once you are through with it. While working on your order you may save and go back to it later, but once completed it will not show up in the system until you have clicked on the submit button. Once submitted it will then be checked to make sure it passes the 80% rule.

If you need to place an additional order for the nuts be sure that you are only ordering the additional you want. We will add multiple orders together to get your final order. If you have any specific questions please address them to your District Kernel or Executive.
Show & Sell Basic Pick
If they have not already done so the District Kernels will be reaching out to you to discuss times set for your pickup up to avoid congestion at the site. September 7 th is the scheduled day for pick-up. You will be receiving an email the week of September 3 rd with additional details. If you are picking up in Lancaster the warehouse is located in Greenfield Park at 1905 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA 17601. This is a DIFFERENT LOCATION FROM LAST YEAR.

From Route 30, exit onto Greenfield Road and head east to the light at the visitor’s center and make a right onto Hempstead Road. Continue to Olde Homestead Lane and make a left. Cross over William Penn Way and as you continue on Olde Homestead Lane the road will turn to the right. Immediately after the turn the warehouse will be on the left. We are in suite 101, the first suite of building 1905. If you reach Colonial Village Lane you went too far. The docks are located at the rear of the building. Someone will be there to direct you to which door to load your product.
If you are picking up at Camp Mack your product will be at the training center. If you have not been to Camp Mack before, follow the main road.  Go through the gates. The training center sits on the hill to your left. If you reach the Alley Action Center and Campfire ring you went too far.
If you would like to pick up your product early, anyone who is willing to come out and help sort is welcome to take their product with them when they are done sorting. Contact your District Kernel or Executive for specifics. For anyone who has not done popcorn before there will be a product summary for your records and a council copy that you will sign verifying product receipt. If you ordered nuts they will be on separate receipts. All product must be verified before it is loaded into your car(s). Any shortage will either be adjusted in your records or arrangements will be made to get it to you. Any damaged product will need to be noted at pick-up.

If you have any questions, or need to make other arrangements please let your district kernel or district executive know and we will get you set

From the Leader Training
The 2018 Popcorn and Nut Sale officially kicked off August 1st! The Popcorn and Nuts Team would like to thank everyone that was able to attend either the Leader Training on July 25 th or the August 8 th event at Sky Zone! Please take time to review your packet and the information that was provided. If you have any questions, contact your District Kernel listed below and they will be happy to work with you.

If you were unable to attend, and have not yet picked up your unit’s packet we have it at the Council Service Center, it may be picked up Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30, or make arrangements with your District Kernel or Executive. They will be contacting you soon to make sure you have the materials in your hands as soon as possible. If you are planning to make a trip to the Council Service Center soon, please contact us at 717-394-4063 or leishamarie.rivera@scouting.org and we will have your packet waiting for you in the store. We are continuing to put up resources on the Council website but here are some quick links to some of the most important pieces from the kickoff:

Council Popcorn Machine
The popcorn machine is available for units to borrow for their Kickoff and Show and Sell Events this fall! It’s a great way to help generate excitement for the sale!! You can obtain the form from Leisha, leishamarie.rivera@scouting.org to schedule the use of it. Machine use is on a first come first served basis. As long as the machine is being used as part of your sale there is no fee. Use of the machine includes corn and oil packets, the first 5 packets are free. Additional packets are available at $1.00 each. Each packet feeds approximately 10 people. Please be sure to clean the machine before returning. If you would like to use the machine for other events there is a small cost.
Past Issues
Missed a “What’s Poppin’” or accidentally deleted it. Don’t worry. There is an archive of past issues on the Council Website. Just go to http://padutchbsa.org/popcorn/whats-poppin/ , look at the menu on the left hand side and click on “What’s Poppin’,” and pick the issue you are looking for.
