Creative doodles
are an activity for students to be creative and express themselves through a drawing of their choice. Each student traces the same line into their process journal with a colored pencil and then completes their composition with a number two pencil. This is a way to teach students about incorporating the elements and principles of design into their work. Elements: line, shape, color, texture, space, value, form. Principles: movement, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, pattern, balance, unity. The more exposure they get, the better and deeper students understand artwork they see and artwork they create.
