The Wave
April 20, 2018

What a glorious day Thursday turned out to be.  Students at TRCS are able to earn pretty special experiences.  By turning in their rough draft, they were invited to enjoy an Ice Cream Sundae and a dance party outside.  It was magical and so celebratory.  EXACTLY how hard work should be celebrated.  We hope your kids came home happy and felt exactly the way we felt, a job well done.  The teachers met here today to start to run through all the drafts - not an easy job.  One of our teachers had 4 done after 2 hours.. so they have quite a weekend in front of them.  We are looking forward to another celebration next THURSDAY - PIZZA LUNCH (see details below) for their final's turned in on time (THURSDAY AM by 10:00 AM).   Such amazing work - for many the hardest piece of Independent Projects.  For us, the best writing BLOCK for teaching research writing, but we all look forward to the creativity ahead!

We want to thank the ARZIE Family, Tawny Friedman & Jill Oien, for taking 2 picnic tables on our patio.  We would love to have 3 more willing folks do a community service project for TRCS!   The office staff will complete them next Friday - if they don't have any volunteers.. so I hope that 3 families will step up and help us out!  This is all for the kids this spring.. they want a space to eat lunch on tables that are ready for them.  Please help!  Contact us by phone or email to claim one of the last three picnic tables.

Enjoy the AMAZING weather this week!  We live in a beautiful  part of the county.. on sunny days - it is meant to be enjoyed fully!  We intend to do that here at TRCS.

Smarter Balanced Assessments
Our belief about testing is that it is a part of our lives. Getting into colleges, becoming a CPA, any online class, driving a car - all involve testing that is electronic. From the tiny experiences to the full blown SAT, your kids will be prepared - not stressed - from experiencing these types of assessments. We use them to provide an "apples to apples" approach to progress of students from year to year.  What we know for sure is:  OUR CURRICULUM CHALLENGES STUDENTS! These tests are all part of that higher expectation. Students at TRCS do very well on the testing, a good part of that is due to your work at home with your kids and the talented teaching staff partnered with you. We provide the training for kids to be successful - NOT STRESSED - on these types of tests.  They are not going to get "away from them", but rather we are helping them to cope effectively through them.  What you can do for us is:

1.  Watch the Wave and know when testing is coming for your kids.
2.  Get them to school on time!
3.  Provide a healthy breakfast each morning!

Without a doubt, this is a team effort and one that is headed to the  future.
Carnival MEETING!

Attendance & Testing
PLEASE HELP US!
We need to keep the kids in school TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY during the AM's.  Please do not schedule appointments or have them arrive late.  A breakfast and a talk about confidence would be so helpful!  We are all ready and we want to make sure that this is a low stress and "just an every-day" experience.  BUT - we need your kids to be at school!  Thank you for your help.

Reschedule To WED. of this week!!!
We need to reschedule and have FRESH and LOCAL that was for THUR. lunch to be served on Wednesday of this week.  We are going to make way to celebrate the final drafts with a Pizza Lunch.  Please know that we will just switch the days to make sure that the food the kids have ordered will be coming to them on TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY of this week.

We need your help!
We have 3 picnic tables that need a family to come in over the course of this week or this weekend (nights.. great, days... great).   To sand (if needed) prime and paint a picnic table.  We have cleaned them.. and scraped paint off of them.. in preparation for repainting.  We have all the supplies.. we just need some help!  Please contact the school office via email [email protected] or call 503 673 7850!  We hope to hear from you!

CELEBRATION - THURSDAY April 27th!
Final Papers turned in- TRCS will be hosting a Pizza Lunch for these lucky and successful folks.    We will have Pizza, Fruit and Lemonade.  We want to congratulate everyone for a JOB WELL DONE!

If you are NOT done with your Final on Thursday, you will need to bring a lunch to school.  Of course, always, if you want to bring your own lunch instead of Pizza - please don't feel that you have to eat the "treat".  :)  We want everyone to be honored.
YES - we will have gluten and dairy free choices for pizza as well.

CONGRATULATIONS are coming your way!
