Alive at 25 Training NOW AVAILABLE
Tribal Program Outreach Coordinator NeTia Bauman has become a nationally
certified instructor of the Alive at 25 program, through the North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC). Bauman will offer this training exclusively to tribal youth age 14-24. Motor vehicle crashes are the #1 cause of death for this demographic and Native Americans remain at a higher risk. 

Alive at 25 is a highly interactive 4.5-hour program targeted toward drivers under the age of 25. The program helps young drivers take greater responsibility for their driving. Alive at 25 incorporates Reality Therapy and Choice™ Theory techniques to help participants identify the five basic needs that drive human behavior. Whereas driver education teaches the mechanics of car and road handling and state law, Alive at 25 focuses on behavior, judgment, decision making and consequences, and provides tools for making positive choices. 

Students receive:
  • eligibility for insurance premium discounts
  • 3-point reduction off of ND driving record
  • skills to make life-saving choices

Training Opportunities for Tribes
The North Dakota Local Technical Assistance Program (NDLTAP) has a variety of training opportunities available to tribal entities. The next training course is Glue for Gravel Roads. In this class you will learn about adding "nature's glue" to improve your gravel. Adding just a small percentage of clay will greatly reduce washboarding, dust, float and can reduce the high cost to maintain your gravel roads. 
NDLTAP is offering (1) ONE FREE tribal registration per tribe. If you are interested in attending one of the upcoming sessions, please contact us to get preregistered. The registration deadline to attend is April 26th! The full program flyer can be found here.

New TTAP Training 
The TTAP Center is a one-stop transportation resource for tribal communities across the country. Comprehensive in-classroom instruction, field and hands-on exercises, online curriculum and motor vehicle injury prevention are combined around a variety of key topics, helping to build expertise and skills to ensure the sustainability of tribal transportation systems and improved safety and mobility for tribal populations.
