Every once in a while we get a call or someone stops by Aurora to tell us that we have made a difference in their lives. Last week that happened again!!
A couple that we worked with Aurora for several years dropped by our offices a few weeks ago. Aurora’s team has housed them on three separate occasions. The first time lasted only a month. From there, they spent a month in a broken down van on some of the coldest winter nights. Over the years, they have bounced around and spent months literally on the streets. Their struggle was with both mental health issues and addiction. These issues kept them from moving forward in any constructive way. Regardless of the struggles, and no matter how many times they have stumbled, Aurora staff continued to work with them. We kept trying to help them move forward where possible, by offering food, shelter and chances for treatment. Finally, THEY were ready to change.
They came in, happy, looking healthy and so thankful to have their lives back. They are now in a good place, have a great church home and are continuing therapy. They said they are truly counting their blessings and that they count Aurora as number one in their recovery process of putting their lives back together. When you give, YOU make real stories like this possible!! Thank you!
