Comments from the CEO

The opportunity for all our students to receive a good education is a high priority for the Fort Dodge Community Foundation and United Way. We salute this year's graduating high school seniors.

The Fort Dodge Community Foundation provides college scholarships.

Our Scholarship committee is reviewing over seventy scholarship applications. The winners will be presented their scholarships at the Fort Dodge Senior High and St. Edmond Awards Assemblies.

We wish this year's graduating seniors the best of luck as they enter the new chapter of their lives.

Annual Dinner, Awards and Recognition
The 2018 Annual Dinner was held on Thursday, March 1, 2018. The Fort Dodge Community Foundation and United Way recognized three United Way Pacesetter Companies for their outstanding support for the United Way campaign.

Employees of Valero Renewables, Decker Truck Line and Citizens Community Credit Union provide exceptionally generous support for this year's United Way campaign through donations they make via payroll deduction.

These companies allow us to meet with their employees and explain what United Way does in our community. United Way provides financial support to other human service organizations, our partner agencies, that help the disadvantaged get back on their feet and bring stability back into their lives.

D/SAOC (Domestic Sexual Assault and Outreach Center) was recognized as the Outstanding Partner Agency. D/SAOC provides shelter, clothing and safety to those fleeing abusive situations. D/SAOC provides family counseling to those in its shelter, helping them deal with the difficulties they've experienced and provide support so that they can put their lives back together again.

Please support D/SAOC by attending the annual D/SAOC Auction, Saturday, April 14, 2018, 5pm, with live auction beginning at 6pm at Iowa Central's East Campus. For more information, please contact 515.955.2276.

Heroes of the Heartland
The Fort Dodge Community Foundation and SOS (Serving Our Servants) hosted the annual Heroes Luncheon on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

There are many heroes among our citizens. There are people who go above and beyond, day in and day out, just because they know it is the right thing to do. We want to recognize and honor those who live their lives in a heroic manner on a daily basis.

Our mission is to serve as a catalyst for charitable giving-developing charitable resources to support important community programs, services and projects that will benefit the public good, advance economic vitality and improve the quality of life of all citizens, families and youth in Fort Dodge, Webster County and northwest-central Iowa. Be encouraging and supporting exemplary citizens, we hope to help provide examples for all of us to follow so that our community can continue to be a wonderful place to live and work.

Remember to Use Your Giving Card!
The United Way Giving Card is given to United Way donors who contribute $150 or more per year to the United Way campaign, approximately $2.92 per week. The generous discounts provided by the Giving Card merchants are a wonderful way to thank these donors for their United Way Support.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Giving Card businesses - they are foregoing some of their profits to encourage and thank United Way donors. A heartfelt thank you to these wonderful businesses.   Please click here to view a list of the Giving Card businesses.
