Heavenly Hike This Sunday
Kealia Beach Cleanup
|
|
In honor of Earth Day, the April Heavenly Hike was planned as a Kealia Beach cleanup. Little did we know that the bit of ‘aina on which we chose to focus would be in greater need than ever. We will leave All Saints’ at noon to make our way to Kealia Beach to start the cleanup. The lifeguards said to please clean where the need is greatest when we get there. We will meet at the lifeguard stand and decide where to go from there. We will supply gloves, some dip nets (for very small pieces of trash), and garbage bags. Please bring hats, sunscreen, water (preferably in reusable water bottles), and a snack or light lunch. Closed toe shoes are recommended due to the unknown

ALL SAINTS' ALTAR GUILD
Keepers of Our Sacred Space
|
|
The Altar Guild is a volunteer group of the parish whose ministry is to care for the altar, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services, and clean up after the service.
At All Saints' Church, before each service, we prepare the altar for communion. This includes the wine, wafers, and appropriate linens. After the church service, the altar vessels and linens are removed and the vessels washed, sterilized and put away. The linens are assigned to one person monthly. This includes washing, ironing, folding and putting away in the appropriate container. A rotating schedule is printed monthly by the administrative staff.
Anyone interested in volunteering and participating in this rewarding service should contact Nora at
norat-5487@twc.com
or call the church office at (
808) 822-4267
. The altar guild members are truly Blessed and consider it a privilege to participate in this ministry.
Thanks to Janis Wright for the article and to the Altar Guild for their dedicated service to All Saints'.

HUI
PU Diocesan Summer Youth Camp 2018
June 24-29, 2018
|
|
Camp is a great ministry for winning young hearts to God! We hope campers DISCONNECT from WiFi and CONNECT to something GREATER!
This year's Hui Pu camp will be held June 24-29, 2018, and the theme is "Arise" to remind our youth that they are well equipped to take on this life. Youth will gather in a safe environment for fun faith-filled fellowship. With friends old and new, we hope they will be reminded that they are never alone.
All three camps will be taking place simultaneously at
Camp Mokule'ia
on O'ahu. Register before April 30, and save! Cost and details are as follows:
- 'OHA (Ages 9-12) - June 24-27 (3 nights)
- $350 or early registration $300
- 'Oha is the young shoot that grows from a kalo (taro) plant. The word 'ohana means many shoots from the same root. 'Oha campers will learn social skills through fun games, exploring their sense of wonder while playing in a natural setting, and expressing their creativity.
- LOKAHI (Ages 13-14) - June 24-28 (4 nights)
- $400 or early registration $350
- Lokahi means unity or to come to an agreement. Lokahi campers will experience independence in a controlled setting; learn the value of being in Christian community through shared spiritual experience and team building activities, that include jumping down a zip line.
- 'OPIO (Ages 15-18) - June 24-29 (5 nights)
- $450 or early registration $400
- 'Opio means youth. 'Opio campers will have an opportunity to hike and swim at Ka'ena Point and participate in the high ropes challenge course. The responsibilities and challenges will encourage personal growth and enhance self-confidence, in a setting of fellowship and spiritual awareness.

The All Saints’ Ministry Council held it’s quarterly meeting on Saturday, April 14th in Memorial Hall. The purpose of the Ministry Council is three-fold:
- To connect our ministries with our mission, vision and call;
- To help coordinate and implement the goals of the ministries;
- To foster communication within the church and the various ministries;
or as Jan Hashizume put it “we’re just trying to bring people together to decide how All Saints’ can be better”.
Members of the Council consist of representatives from the various ministries of All Saints’ and they meet at least quarterly.
If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to contact Jan Hashizume or Linda Crocker.

This Week in Sunday School
"Jesus Helps Catch Fish"
|
|
The disciples have gone back to their daily life and work as it was before they had met and been so changed by Jesus. Life is once again the same...or is it?
It makes sense that their lives should continue as before, at least on the outside. God means for us to be part of the world. Christ means to work in us as we live our normal everyday lives. He did not expect that we should stay “on the mountaintop” with him always.
And what does Jesus say to his friends? He tells them how to catch fish! At first, they do not know who this man is, for they—like us—often do not expect to see God in everyday activities and frustrations. But that is where he waits for us.
