Chicago In Tune
As a part of the 2020 Year of Chicago Music, Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot recently announced the NEW Chicago In Tune - an 18-day celebration of music at venues and organizations across the city from May 21 to June 7. The event is anchored by three free-admission city music festivals - the Chicago House Music Festival, the Chicago Gospel Music Festival and the Chicago Blues Festival - that spotlight three genres of music born and innovated in Chicago. Music will stretch to every corner of the city with free and ticketed events at participants including the Lyric Opera, Chicago Sinfonietta, the People's Music School, Little Kids Rock, Chicago Blues Revival, Blues Heaven Foundation, the Logan Center for the Arts, the Irish American Heritage Center, Refuge Live, the Old Town School of Folk Music and The Promontory. It's Been Another Record Year for Chicago's Film Industry!
The
Chicago Film Office and Illinois Film Office are announcing that 2019 was a record year for television, film and media production activity in Chicago and around the state. In all, the Chicago Film Office permitted 522 projects in 2019 and now ranks first in the Midwest region for production, third in the country for commercial advertising production and in the top six nationally for overall production. Last year resulted in an estimated economic impact of nearly $560 million in local job creation and expenditures, an 18% increase over the previous year. Over 15,000 non-extra job hires generated over $350 million in wages, with women and minorities representing 51% of the reported crew hires.

Women of Chicago Jazz: Featuring bassist Marlene Rosenberg with guitarist Scott Hesse, pianist Franchesca Romero and drummer Xavier Breaker, and pianist Jo Ann Daugherty with saxophonist Rajiv Halim, bassist Joshua Ramos and drummer Ryan Bennett. JazzCity is a free concert series initiated in 1997 by the Jazz Institute of Chicago in collaboration with the Chicago Park District to bring people together from across the city to listen to Chicago's top jazz musicians.
