Academic Advising
Seeking support to finalize your course planning, petitions, senior audits, or other advisory items? Stop by for drop in hours with CASC Academic Adviser and faculty member

Preferred Admissions
All CASC students are eligible for the Preferred Admission program in the Masters of Social Work program at UM. To learn more, read below or contact the Office of Student Services at (734) 936-0961 to schedule a phone or in-person appointment.

CAS C Classes
Start planning Spring/Summer and Fall CASC Course load in time for backpacking/registration. Review classes that count toward the minor on the  CASC Course Guide . Looking for undergraduate course offerings? Visit the

Course Substitution Request: If you do not see a course listed that you think should count for your CASC minor, please email the syllabus and a short paragraph about which cluster you think it should count for and why to [email protected].

Senior Audit
Please fill out your senior audit as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment or visit drop-in to speak with CASC Academic Advisor Joe Galura.

Course Enrollment Petitions:  Students must submit a petition found on the CASC website to enroll in SW 300, 305 (section 1 & 2), and SW 401. If there are any questions or concerns, please email   [email protected] .

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW). This means you are able to apply to the school as both as junior and senior. Additionally, students will mark a "CASC Preferred Admissions" box on their application that will be taken into account in the decision making process. For admission criteria and more information visit the preferred admissions website.

CASC Course Offerings
London Course on Community Action
The focus of this course is on multicultural issues and community action in contemporary London. It's a good experience for students to learn how issues of race, ethnicity, gender and other identities relate to social justice in a different society than the USA. This course will take place May-June of 2018. Learn more.

Campus News & Events
Arab Heritage Month 2018 
Arab Heritage Month on campus began its celebration February 17 and will conclude in mid- April. The events this year will focus 
on broadening the conversation about inclusion and exclusion, with the hopes of engaging in dialogue about the nuances of language, culture, and geography. For a full list of event times and descriptions visit MESA's  website.

The Prison Creative Arts Project Secular Wing Ding
PCAP  rings those impacted by the justice system and the University of Michigan Community into artistic collaboration for mutual learning and growth. We do creative arts workshops {visual art, music, theater, creative writing} in prisons, juvenile detention centers, and more.

A Twenty-First Century Approach to Community Change
Through their new book, A Twenty-First Century Approach to Community Change, authors Paula Allen-Meares, Trina Shanks, Larry Gant, Leslie Hollingsworth, and Patricia Miller offer perspective on the intricacies of the Good Neighborhood community-change initiative. RSVP.

Trotter 72 Hour Study Break 
Join the W.M. Trotter Multicultural Center Staff  for Therapaws, study spaces, Sweetland Writing Center Tutors, movies around the clock, free massages, snacks, brunch and dinner! End this semester with your favorite Trotter programs: Paint no Pour, and Food For The Soul  Sunday.

The Michigan Affordability and Advocacy Coalition Organization 
This new student organization is committed to championing the financial and accessibility needs of students on campus - particularly around issues of health, housing, and food security. Created by lower- and middle-income students, we aim to empower economically marginalized individuals through solidarity, justice, and community organizing. Hand of Hope Internship 
Casa de Esperanza provides residential care to children birth through six who are in crisis due to abuse, neglect, or the effects of HIV.  Care is provided in our neighborhood by our Hands of Hope interns. Learn more and apply

Magnifying Immersion Program 
A spring semester academic program for bringing Positive Organizational Scholarship (POS) to U-M's best and brightest students in order to learn, identify, and employ POS principles and practices that build high-performing organizations that bring out the best in people. Learn more and apply. 

Careers in Community Organizing for Social Justice  
The Direct Action & Research Training (DART) Center will hold an online information session  to discuss careers in community organizing with U-M students and alumni interested in uniting congregations and

Funding Opportunities
Forever Go Blue Program Grant
Are you or your organization eager to put on a fundraising event for your cause? A grant of up to $700 available to student groups that plan to promote philanthropic thinking, inspire collaboration around altruistic endeavors, and fundraise for charitable projects that benefit U-M.  Deadline is April 20, 2018 Learn more and apply

Rosalie Ginsberg Scholarship for Community Service and Social Action
Two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to University of Michigan students holding junior or senior standing for Fall of the scholarship year, are enrolled full-time, who demonstrate a commitment to community service or social action, and who demonstrate financial need  as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Deadline is May 11. Learn more and apply.

McDonald Community Fellows 
The MacDonald Community Fellows Program provides a unique three-year fellowship for University of Michigan undergraduate students. MacDonald Fellows receive funding while engaging in community engagement, leadership development, and personal growth .Fellows will receive a $5,000 annual scholarship, in two disbursements per academic year. Deadline is May 14. Learn more and apply.

Fullbright U.S Scholars Program 
The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), on behalf of the U.S. State Department, administers the Fulbright Scholars Program,  which annually makes available fellowships in about 125 countries to over 500 U.S. scholars and professionals from a wide variety of academic and professional fields. Application due August 1.Learn more and apply.

Fullbright Student Program
The Institute of International Education (IIE), on behalf of the U.S. State Department, administers the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, which allows 1,900 U.S. students annually to study, conduct research, teach English, or train in the creative arts in more than 140 countries worldwide. Luce Scholars Program 2019-2020
The Luce Scholars Program
 is a nationally competitive fellowship program that provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia each year. Applications should be from seniors, graduate students, and young leaders in a variety of fields (other than Asian studies) who have had limited experience of Asia.
