Our vision is to have a community where no kittens are born wild on the street, no cat  capable of living in a home is lacking one, and no feral cats are wanting for food, water,  and appropriate care and concern.

PetSmart welcomes SAFCC as new adoption partner at grand opening!

This month SAFCC helped celebrate the Grand Opening of the new PetSmart on 1604 just south of Potranco. Even though the weather was bad, it was a madhouse as over 300 people lined up in the rain, waiting over 45 minutes before the doors opened! Our Community Cat Adoption Program Coordinator, Leah Belanger, was invited to cut the ribbon on the store's opening day! SAFCC had five successful adoptions that day! Stop by and visit and please thank PetSmart for giving us another venue to find homes for the friendly cats and kittens in our care.
NIOSA becomes fundraiser for SAFCC

Thank you to all of our volunteers who donated their time to work the ticket booth during NIOSA in support of SAFCC! Each night volunteers worked the ticket booths at the entry gates, earning SAFCC $1,200 for their efforts. Fun combined with fundraising - Viva Fiesta!
Thank you, SAFCC volunteers!
SAFCC at Earth Day

SAFCC attended the city's annual Earth Day event on April 13 and hosted an information booth. We talked to many interested people about TNR and what SAFCC does in the community. Fiesta medals were available for sale and a TruCatch trap was available for demonstration. Despite the event being cut short due to inclement weather, we were able to meet and greet a wide variety of people! Thanks to the city of San Antonio for inviting us to this fun event!
Petco volunteers needed

Our Community Cat Adoption Program needs volunteer cleaners at our newest Petco location on 11398 Bandera Road. Volunteers will water and feed, scoop litter boxes, do light cleaning, and play with cats and kittens. This volunteer opportunity is a one-hour commitment  once a week. If you're interested, please contact: Susan at (210) 803-9334 or Kim (210) 275-4736 or fill out our volunteer application HERE.

SAFCC volunteer success story!

In appreciation of Volunteer Recognition Day on April 20, SAFCC is sharing this great volunteer story about two ladies that stepped up to help community cats and improved their health!

Last July, SAFCC sent a request for volunteers to feed a cat colony when the original feeder had to retire for health reasons. Two young cat lovers responded that they were happy to help. Who knew that it would be the start of a great friendship? Sabrina and Amber had done TNR training and became acquainted with the cats at the apartment where the feeding station was located. They established good relationships with residents by letting them know what they were doing. Previously, the apartments had forbid feeding the cats. However, the manager agreed to let SAFCC spay/neuter the cats on property and allowed a feeding station. Sabrina and Amber decided to feed together on most nights and to walk around and get exercise as well. As they did they identified new cats in the complex that needed trapping and to date they have trapped almost 20 cats!

Not only are the cats in better shape now, but the work of feeding (and trapping) cats has had outstanding health benefits for the volunteer friends --- a combined total of 46 pounds lost so far from their nightly walks. They even go to the gym now, along with Sabrina's husband who also is getting to a better weight. It's a good thing since their families took a spring break trip together! Thanks so much, Sabrina and Amber! We love our volunteers!

Cat of the month: Wink

Meet our SAFCC cat of the month, Wink! Wink is a very sweet and affectionate girl. She was dumped  at an elderly man's cat colony pregnant and with an eye injury. Even though she had a severely infected eye and must have been in great pain, this little girl was very sweet. With the help of ACS who treated Wink's eye for free, a Community Cat Adoption Program volunteer fostered Wink and she is now healthy and ready for adoption!

If you want to meet Wink, she is currently in our adoption center at PetSmart on 1604 and Culebra. For more information you can also email her foster mom Leah HERE
