Illness Prevention
This flu season has been particularly rough. As a reminder, the flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. It can be spread from person-to-person through the air by coughing or sneezing or by touching an infected surface and carrying it to your nose or mouth. Check out the graphic for symptoms. We've also been hit by a stomach virus making its rounds throughout the district.

Those experiencing flu-like or other symptoms should stay home from school and work until at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever without the use of medicine. We recommend consulting with a doctor and making sure those not feeling well get plenty of rest and fluids.

Please help us encourage hand washing and other preventative actions. Washing coats, backpacks and lunch boxes is also suggested.

To learn more about the flu virus and prevention methods, visit https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/index.html.

2020-2021 Calendar Approved
The Board of Education approved the 2020-2021 school calendar found HERE . As a reminder, due to new legislation from the state of Missouri, the earliest day the district could begin school was August 24. Also, please note that there are three built-in snow day make-ups. If we have snow days prior to those days they will be used to make up school days missed. However, any days missed after those three built-in make-up days have passed will not have to be made up. Therefore, May 26 will be our last day of school (1/2 day).

JANUARY 28:
Yesterday was an exciting day at RHS! In partnership with the American Heart Association students were educated on the dangers of vaping and were invited to sign an open letter to the companies that produce e-cigarettes to encourage them to #quitlying. We're so #repmoproud to be a part of creating a solution for this very dangerous epidemic.

JANUARY 27:
Congratulations to Republic High School's Ariana Givens for participating in the Missouri All-State Choir. Ariana was one of only 6 sopranos chosen from our district after a rigorous audition process last fall. The rehearsal and performance took place at the annual Missouri Music Educators Conference in Osage Beach January 22-25. Singers from all around the state had the great honor of rehearsing and performing with the very inspiring director Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand from Oakwood University. #repmoproud

JANUARY 22:
Congratulations to Republic's FCCLA Culinary team which took a Gold Medal at the 2020 FCCLA Culinary STAR Event Competition.
Team members Alycia Hauck, Samuel Ard, and Shannon Donohue will compete at FCCLA State in March.    #repmoproud

JANUARY 17:
Join us in congratulating Mr. Tyler Overstreet as he transitions  from RHS Principal to Asst. Superintendent, & Mrs. Christy Coursey as she  transitions from Schofield Principal to the Dir. of Elementary  Learning. Additional details can be found HERE .

JANUARY 17:
Our Early Childhood students did a wonderful job presenting at the Board of Education meeting last night! They shared about their learning and even showed us one of their "rituals." Check out the included video of these sweet students singing their rendition of Twinkle Twinkle with our Board of Education! #repmoproud

JANUARY 15:
Join us in congratulating Betty Dipper, bus driver, for being chosen as the NOVEMBER REPMO HERO OF THE MONTH! Miss Betty has been driving for the district since 1996 and has made such a positive impact on so many students and teammates during her time as a driver. We are so thankful she continues to choose to serve in Republic!  #repmoproud
A compilation of nominations received in regards to Miss Betty from district employees is below. She will be honored at the January Board  of Education meeting, and will also receive $500 to be spent on the resources of her choice.
Betty Dipper has been employed with our district since 1996. She has driven countless miles over the years to take care of our students getting them to and from school. She knows all of her 'kids' and their families. She has great interaction with all of them and she treats her 'kids on the bus' just like they were her own kids or grandkids. She has been a valuable asset in our department. Her knowledge of the area and things that go on is just an added asset to us all. In addition to her regular bus route, Betty also drives our SOAR kids and a mid-day Early Childhood route. Her dedication, great attendance, taking care of kids and their families are just a few things that make Betty Dipper our Transportation nomination for RepMO Hero.

Winter Escape

OTC Inclement Weather Information for RHS Students Enrolled at OTC
When OTC is in session and students' high schools close due to inclement weather

When students' sending high schools are closed due to inclement weather and OTC is in session, the Career Center does not require students from those sending schools to be in attendance and does not encourage students to drive on their own in hazardous weather conditions. The primary concern during inclement weather is the safety of our students. Good judgment is essential in the individual's decision whether to travel during potentially hazardous conditions. Students' whose schools are closed to inclement weather when OTC is in session will be reported as absent from OTC even though they are not required to attend OTC. Students are encouraged to communicate, in a timely manner, with their instructors anytime they are absent. The instructor will provide guidance about missed coursework and assignments.
