Harriet Tubman Movie Showing Grades 5-7

Mr. Kimbro and Mrs. Fields are hosting a "movie night" to show students the new Harriet Tubman movie: Be Free or Die.

6th and 7th graders have been reading her biography and should be finished soon. Also, all middle school art students have learned about the underground railroad and made a quilt square wi th their own coded message. We will have our Underground Railroad Quilt on display for movie night. We thought that this movie would be a great way to end our study of the Underground Railroa d.

This movie is open to any "mature" students grades 5-8. It is rated pg-13 for cruelty and racial slurs. They will need a signed permission slip if they are under 13. Copies of these permission slips will be handed out to interested students in Mr. Kimbro's class. Extra copies can also be found at the front desk or you can click here . To RSVP, please click here .

The movie will be shown after school on Tuesday, March 10th from 3:30-6:00pm in the Music room. We will have snacks and treats. Kids can bring comfies, blankets, or bean bags to lay on. Chairs will be set up in the back of the room. Parents are also invited to watch if they like.

We need about 2 parent volunteers to help supervise this event. If interested, please email Lucy Healey .
2nd Annual Park Academy Parent Group Campaign

To meet this fundraising goal, the PAPG asks that each family raises $100, but recognizes that some families may be able to contribute more or less. For other information, please visit this  website  . If you have any questions, please email the  PAPG.

What the funds will go towards
  • Elementary and Middle School Events
  • High School Prom

Recycle or Not Game Challenge: Winner gets a $25 Amazon Gift Card

Want to test your skills on recycling and composting? Ms. Fields has a challenge for you! Log onto this website to play the game, Recycle or Not, which gives you accurate information on what can actually be recycled in the Portland Metro Area. Did you know that depending on where you live, the rules can be different? This game will help you know what to do! Follow the link above, play the game, and save a screenshot or take a photo of your perfect score. You must get a 10/10 to enter the contest, which means you may need to practice first. Students who can show Ms. Fields proof of a perfect score will have their name put into a drawing to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card. Play at home with your parents or ask your support teacher if you can try this challenge!
