Categories and Prizes:
General Contest: Aged 19+ (Prizes: $50-$100)
Youth: Aged 16-18 (Prizes: $25-$75)
Special Award: Family Oriented Poetry (Prize: A meal for a family of four, at a supporting restaurant of the FRC).
Submission Guidelines:
Any poet who lives, works or attends college within the Floyd County limits may enter and be included in any published anthology.
It will be an “open” competition in regard to subject matter, that is there will generally be no theme. However, in recognition of the sponsorship by the Family Resource Center there will be a special award for family oriented poetry. Poetry with this orientation will also be included in the General and Youth categories.
Only one submission per poet will be accepted. A poet may submit up to four poems written in any style.
Poems should be single spaced, typed in 12 pt font, Times New Roman or similar font, with the title and the first line of the poem at the top of the page. No identifying information should be included on the same page as the poem. Each submission should include a brief cover letter with a few lines of biography as well as the names of all poems submitted. Judges will read all the poems “blind” then use the cover letters to determine the authors.
Contact information must be included: Name, address, phone and email (if available).
Previously written but unpublished poetry will be acceptable.
Manuscripts will not be returned.
Entries may be submitted by email attachment to: poetry@exchangeclubfrc.org OR sent via USPS to: The Exchange Club Family Resource Center, P.O. Box 168, Rome, GA 30162. Attn. Kathy Philips
Entries must be submitted between January 1 and March 31, 2020.
Contest results will be published on the Family Resource Center website www.exchangeclubfrc.org once all winners are notified.
Submission to the contest grants rights for a one-time publication in any anthology created to document this event. All contributing poets will receive a free copy of the book. (Further definition required)
