You did it! You helped Winn have the largest grant review in our 50 year history.
Again, thank you to our generous donors, both individual and corporate partners, for supporting cat health and believing in Winn's mission.
Winn funded 14 studies totaling $304,071. The total includes $73,807 for our special Feline Shelter Medicine Review in collaboration with
PetSmart Charities
®, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America and $230,264 in Winn Feline Foundation grants. Winn also recognizes Holly Aglialoro again as a Ricky Fund sponsor in memory of her cat, Augustus, and Wisdom Health™ for sponsoring the New Feline Investigator Grant Award in genomics.

The blog is our busiest webpage. Twice weekly Winn publishes a summary of current research in feline medicine from several top veterinary publications. Some entries summarize Winn-funded studies, but many are from studies around the world. The information is shared to update cat lovers and veterinary professionals about the best prevention, diagnostics, and treatments available on cat health.

New York Cat Film Festival in Chicago
Buy your tickets for the April 28th showings
The New York Cat Film Festival is traveling the country with two 70-minute programs showing a medley of short cat films. After a great turnout for the show in Portsmouth, NH, the festival is planning for the same in Chicago on April 28th.
Winn Feline Foundation has been named as a charitable beneficiary by the Cat Film Festival.

The Power of Pink
Dr. Elizabeth Coleman receives Germinder Honor
Elizabeth Colleran, DVM, MS, DABVP (Feline), has recently been named a Germinder + Associates 20th Anniversary power of Pink Honoree. Dr. Colleran owns and operates Chico Hospital for Cats in Chico, CA and is an advocate for feline friendly veterinary practices.
In addition to the honor, Dr. Colleran has designated Winn Feline Foundation as the recipient of a donation from a special Germinder + Associates 20th Anniversary Fund in her name.
In a quote from the
press release, Dr. Colleran states,
"I am delighted and humbled to accept this award during our own anniversary
year. All the campaigns, all the work is to benefit the magnificent felines we
veterinarians treat every day. Thank you to Germinder for recognizing not only
the work but for the donation to the Winn Feline Foundation to continue to benefit

Leptospirosis in companion pets
Leptospirosis ... a bacterial disease and emerging threat to dogs and possibly people. Cats can become infected or serve as carriers.

A Tip to Leave a Loving Legacy
For April 2018
Thanks to recent change in tax law the individual exemption from Federal estate, gift and generation-skipping taxes has been increased to $10 million (before indexing for inflation) for tax years 2018 through 2025. (Note: unless extended the personal exemption will later revert to $5 million, indexed.)
