Father Paul's Homily
If you enjoyed Father Paul's homily this last weekend, but couldn't write all those scripture references down fast enough or if you heard about it and wished you had been there, you're in luck.  Father typed it up for us so that we can spend some time with his words and the Word of God.
The 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal is underway! Archbishop Sartain's letter was sent to your homes last week. If you haven't received a letter please contact the parish office at 206-782-2810.
We are seeking everyone's participation this year so that we reach our goal of $100,355 as quickly as  possible!   Last year we were unable to reach our goal of $95,344. This means the parish needs to pay $14,000 out of our operating budget to make up the short fall. In order to make this year's goal we need everyone to participate. If you gave last year, please consider increasing your gift by 5% this year. If you did not give last year, would you consider a gift of a dollar a day ($365)? Gifts of any amount are welcome, and your gift  will make a big impact on many lives!
You can make your gift today online at www.seattlearchdiocese.org/donate
All gifts have until April 2019 to be fulfilled. Thank you for your support and participation!

CLOW is ON for April 22 and 29, May 13, 20 and 27 (No May 6 because or first communion)   We hope to see you there!

Driving home from work last Friday, I noticed the license plate frame on the car ahead of me.  It said, "To walk with God, you must be going His way."

Back in February, I asked you to give me short answers to the question, "Why are you Catholic?"  I ended up getting answers from 9 St. John parishioners, a record response to a Prayer Nugget.  Thank you!  Anyway, was surfing recently and found an article titled "Forty Reasons I Am A Catholic" by Peter Kreeft.  Turns out the article is an introduction to his recently published book of the same title.  So my favorite Catholic author answered my question!  Read Kreeft's article here: http://bit.ly/FortyReasons  If you enjoy that, read his book.  I'm going to :-)  If you enjoy his book, drop me a note with your favorite reason.

Matthew Kelly was in town last weekend, putting on his Passion and Purpose events.  You know Kelly as the Aussie in the Best Lent Ever videos, and the author of Rediscovering Catholicism, the book we gave away at Christmas masses in 2014.  Here's one thread among the many, many memorable things Kelly said.  "If you thought God was going to SPEAK to you at mass, you might want to bring pen and paper."  If you want to change your life, and transform your experience of the mass, bring pen and paper.  Get to mass EARLY (Kelly did a whole riff on that), and pray "God, show me ONE way in this mass for me to become the best version of myself this week."  Then, LISTEN, and write down ONE thing you can do better this week in your MASS JOURNAL.  I know a dozen St. John parishioners who are going to be scribbling in their journals during masses over the next month.  Join us if you like.  I expect it will change your life.

If you have prayer nuggets you'd like to share with the parish, email Bill Marty, [email protected].  Thanks!
