COMING ATTRACTIONS:

Feb.12, 2020 - Joe Eckstein
Cover Designer / Illustrator

Joe Eckstein is a professional book designer, illustrator, and author with over 15 years experience in book publishing. He has worked as a designer, illustrator, and art and design director for multiple publishing companies, and as a freelance book designer and illustrator assisting independent publishers and self-publishing authors. For over 15 years, he has formatted and designed the covers and interiors for scores of books including non-fiction and fiction trade books, children's books, and a  New York Times   bestseller. Joe's Website

Whether they ought to or not, the fact is, people do judge a book by it's cover! The cover is a potential reader's first impression of your book. In a few seconds, it must grab their attention and interest them enough to pick up your book or click a link online to find out more. It can determine if your book stands out from the rest, and significantly affect people's perception of the author's and publisher's credibility, expertise, and the quality and value of the content within. What makes a good book cover design? What are the all-too-common mistakes to avoid when creating one? Whether you're a self-publishing author formatting your book yourself or working with a designer, learn what will make your book cover help-and not hurt-your book, its impact, and its sales.

After his presentation, we will have two, five minute readings from members' own works.
1. Don Fedor will read from his work-in-progress, The Knight's Book.
2. Nicole Diehm has agreed to read her short story, The State Eustasia.
