Racial Justice Team Meeting

SanctUUary Summit

MUUSAN invites and challenges all Maine UU congregations to send representatives to this summit to explore how they can deepen participation in efforts to support immigrants and refugees in Maine.  The Summit will be free but registration is encouraged at https://www.muusan.org/racial-justice.html . Participants will be asked to bring their own brown bag lunch.

Call for Revisions to
Declaration of Conscience
September 1 st Deadline
Special Meeting | September 9 th | 11:20am| Meeting House

At last week's annual meeting, the congregation voted to hold a special meeting in September to consider a revised First Parish Declaration of Conscience. Many members wanted the opportunity to further consider the wording; some raised questions about several marginalized or oppressed groups that the document did not mention specifically. Any First Parish member is invited to propose revised wording or additions, but  all proposed revisions must be received in writing   by September 1.   The special meeting will be held September 9 after service. The proposed revisions will be made available to church members to consider in this eNewsletter on September 7th. Click the link below to read the Declaration. Training in Tenderness

Training in Tenderness  talk with world-renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher and author, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. Rinpoche will speak on the value of cultivating love, and the methods for doing so, from the perspective of Buddhism, and will then sign copies of his new book,  Training in Tenderness.  Free.

Please help brighten up the Meeting House on Sundays! Sign up to donate flowers in the Parish Hall- look for the poster on the coat rack .

Large Print Orders of Service are now available every Sunday! Ask an Usher, or look for them at both entrances to the from the Meeting House.
