California Consulting Reaches Milestone 800 Grant Awards
    
June 2017, Los Angeles-California Consulting, LLC today announced that this week the company reached the milestone of 800 funded grant applications written for clients. Since opening in 2004, California Consulting grant writers have written 800 competitive federal, state, and private foundation grant applications that have been awarded for clients.

While announcing the news California Consulting Director of Communications Shasta Bell commented, "Reaching 800 awarded competitive applications is a major achievement for the firm. California Consulting prides itself on writing winning applications and this is a proud day for the Company and our entire team."

 California Consulting, LLC State Grants Manager Tristan Shamp reacted to the announcement remarking, "Our grant writing team works hard, works smart, and cares deeply about the applications we draft.  I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of our grant writing team that helped us reach the 800 mark."

San Bernardino City Unified School Distrtict Receives 3153% Return on their Investment

San Bernarindo City Unified School District (a CC LLC client) has recieved 3153% return on their investment in terms of grant writing services. To further benefit the district, California Consulting helped San Bernardino City Unified School District secure the CDE Gold Ribbon School Merit Award. 

San Bernardino City Unified School District has been a client since July 2015. In that short amount of time California Consulting has written the following grant applications that have been awarded:

California Consulting Secures over $1.2 million in California Youth Soccer Recreation and Develoment Grants 


California Consulting is pleased to announce that 3 of our California Youth Soccer Recreation and Development Grants were awarded totalling over $1.2 million dollars. The CC clients and award descriptions are below: 


Modesto - Carpenter Road Area Soccer Fields -$1,000,000 
to the city of Modesto for the construction of natural turf soccer fields, irrigation, parking lot, security lighting and minor improvements. 
 
Fresno - Bakman Baseball Field Renovation -$209,098
 to Sunnyside Lone-Star Little League for the renovation of a natural turf baseball field and irrigation, construction of a field house with restrooms, perimeter fencing and minor improvements. 
 
Huntington Park - Salt Lake Park Basketball Court -$74,347
to the city of Huntington Park for the renovation of a basketball court and construction of minor improvements. 
 
Total funding awarded to CC Clients: $1,283,445. 



GRANT AWARDS:

CC LLC congratulates the Coachella Valley Unified School District (a CC LLC client) for being awarded Learning Communities for School Success Program awards in the amount of $1,544,723 from the California Department of Education.

The district plans to utilize the funding for curriculum training and technical assistance for 21 schools through National Compadres Network.
This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of Coachallea Valley Unified School District's leadership to and promote the quality of life for its students.

It's also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CCLLC Grant Writer, Dana Leusch, who ensured a successful grant application.

California Consulting is pleased to announce the City of Maywood recieved $211,000 for the CalFire Urban and Community Forestry CCI Grant. A hearty congratulations to the City of Maywood and California Consulting's grant writing team on the successful application.








CC LLC congratulates Bakman Water Company (a CC LLC client) and its partner, Sunnyside Lone-Star Little League, for being awarded the California Youth Soccer and Recreation Development Program Grant in the amount of $209,098 from the California Department of Parks and Recreation Office of Grants and Local Services (OGALS).

Bakman Water Company and Sunnyside Lone-Star Little League have plans to utilize the funds for renovation of a natural turf baseball field and irrigation, construction of an ADA-compliant field house with restrooms, installation of perimeter fencing and minor improvements.
This latest achievement is an example of the commitment of Bakman Water Company's leadership to promote and improve their community in southeast Fresno.

It's also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CCLLC Project Manager, Brian Royer, who ensured a successful grant application.

CC LLC congratulates the City of Dorris (a CC LLC client) for being awarded the CalRecycle Fiscal Year 2017-18 Tire-Derived Product (TDP) Grant in the amount of $149,787.

The City of Dorris plans to install rubber mulch for both recreational and landscaping purposes at three public locations throughout the City.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City of Dorris's leadership to promote the quality of life for its residents.
It's also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CCLLC Deputy Statewide Grants Manager, Danielle Sotelo, who ensured the successful grant application.

CC LLC congratulates City of Baldwin Park (a CC LLC client) for being awarded the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Grant (STEP) in the amount of $70,000 from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).

The funding will be used to develop and implement a bicycle and pedestrian safety and education programs in partnership with Bike SGV in the City of Baldwin Park. It will also include local schools.

This latest achievement is an example of the commitment of the City's leadership to promote the quality of life for it's residents.

California Consulting is pleased to announce our client, City of Baldwin Park, received $40,000 from the Office of Traffic Safety Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Grant. Congratulations to the City of Baldwin Park and California Consulting's grant writing team on the successful application.

Baldwin Park's Department of Recreation and Community Services demonstrates plans to launch a pilot afterschool meal program, coordinate a marketing plan to promote year-round access to meals, and long-term goals of exploring the sustainability of both programs.

California Consulting, LLC congratulates the City of Calexico (A CC LLC Client) for being awarded the CalRecycle Tire Derived Product (TDP) grant in the amount of $20,625.00.

City of Calexico will install 26 Super sacks of Rubber Bark (weighing 1,950 lbs) at a local park. This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City of Calexico leadership to promote the quality of life for its residents.

It's also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CC LLC Grant Writer, Christina Gonzalez, to ensure a successful grant application.

CC LLC congratulates   Castro Valley Unified School District (a CC LLC client) for being awarded Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) SUMS Initiative Grant in the amount of $25,000!
Castro Valley Unified will use the funds to provide data support at Chabot 
Elementary so that Prinicipal Vivienne Paratore can guide staff in implementation of a "data wall," an innovative evaluative tool that teachers can use to visually see each individual student's progress.

The funds will also support efforts at Canyon Middle School to strengthen and hone their "Check In, Check Out" system, an intervention that helps students struggling with behavioral issues by increasing student accountability and adult support by having an adult check in with them daily.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of Castro Valley USD leadership to promote the quality of education for it's students.
It's also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CC LLC Grant Writer Dana Leusch to ensure a successful grant application.

California Consulting Announces Dan Rodriguez as 
Director of Operations
 
 
California Consulting is pleased to announce Dan Rodriguez as the Director of Operations. He will direct the firm's operations in his new management role and report to the Owner. 
 
Mr. Rodriguez  has over 25 years in organizational and operations management, business development, government and investor relations with business groups, public affair firms and consulting groups.  Dan was a CEO for large North Orange County youth development non-profit, elected city official in Pomona, and Child Welfare & Attendance Manager for Pomona Unified School District.
 
Dan received his Master's from Biola University in Organizational Leadership and Development and has lived in California all his life.  He enjoys spending time with family, mountain biking, hiking and backpacking in the wilderness.  Dan is and active and engaged participant in community projects and development relations in his neighborhood.  Dan is a member of Biola University Alumni Association, Association of Fundraising Professionals and currently resides in Pomona.

California Consulting Owner, Steve Samuelian, stated "We welcome Dan to his new position and know he will do a great job helping to manage and direct our team." 
 

California Consulting Congratulates Holly Bachman as our new Senior Director

California Consulting is pleased to announce Holly Bachman as our new Senior Director.  Holly will supervise statewide client retention and business development and will report to the Owner. 

Ms. Bachman has over 16 years of in marketing, PR, events and business development including serving as a Membership Consultant since 2014 and recently Co-Chair of LA Area Chamber of Commerce's new nonprofit council where she assists in growing membership and consults with various small, medium and large businesses and organizations in the greater community.

Holly received her B.A. in Sociology/Social Psychology from the University of Minnesota and has been living in California for the past 11 years. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies, attending sporting events, and most importantly giving back to the community through mentoring and organizing various local and national events that promote identity, diversity and unity. Holly is also a member of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), University of Minnesota Alumni Association and currently resides in the Pasadena area.

California Consulting Communications Director, Shasta Bell, stated "We welcome Holly to her new position. We know she's going to do a great job helping lead our team."

Client Spotlight: City of Garden Grove 

California Consulting is pleased to spotlight t he City of Garden Grove whose mission is to provide responsible leadership and quality services as they promote safety, cultural harmony, and life enrichment. 

Armed with the vision to be a safe, attractive, and economically vibrant city with an informed and involved public. The community is diverse and it promotes their unique attributes and preserves their residential character.

Residents formally decided to incorporate their town on June 18, 1956, to become the City of Garden Grove. Since incorporation, the pioneer spirit has continued to be part of life for Garden Grove. At the time of the 1960 census, Garden Grove had a population of nearly 44,000. Today, the population is over 170,000. That makes Garden Grove the fifth largest city in Orange County and the 18th largest in the State. The community is a dynamic and thriving city with a strong sense of its roots based on its colorful history.

Garden Grove commits itself to the betterment of the individual, the organization, and the community, by fostering a spirit of trust, creativity, cooperation, integrity, empathy, respect, and quality service to all.



Team Member Spotlight: Gloria Gallardo

Gloria Gallardo is a credentialed grant professional with over 25 years' experience in the public sector.  Ms. Gallardo held positions with the California Department of Health Services, the Department of Toxic Substances Control, and the California Department of Justice (DOJ).  After a career in state service, she accepted a position with the Department of Transportation, Montebello Bus Lines (MBL).  Over the course of her career, Ms. Gallardo has secured millions of dollars in federal, state and local grants; and has also served as a peer reviewer for various federal agencies.

As a DOJ employee, Ms. Gallardo was assigned to Task Forces under the Los Angeles High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) where she supported federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in their mission to reduce drug trafficking.   As the Transit Administration Manager for MBL, Ms. Gallardo wrote and managed federal, state and local grants in support of public transportation; and she managed the civil rights programs (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, Equal Employment Opportunity and Title VI).  

As a public transportation advocate, Ms. Gallardo fostered partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to local businesses, community based organizations, members of the community, educational institutions, as well as executives and elected officials.  She also served as the Vice-Chair and Secretary of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bus Operations Subcommittee charged with the review and evaluation of various transportation policies, operating issues, and transportation financing programs in Los Angeles County.

Ms. Gallardo graduated from the University of La Verne with a degree in Public Administration and also completed the Human Resources Management Certificate Program at Cal Poly Pomona.

The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) provides funding for the planning, design, 
and construction of water recycling projects that offset or augment state fresh water supplies.  There are
 two programs within this fund:

Planning Grants: The purpose of the planning grant is to assist agencies or regions with completing 
feasibility studies for water recycling projects using treated municipal wastewater and/or treated 
groundwater from sources contaminated by human activities.  Only local public agencies are 
eligible to apply for planning grants.

Construction Grants: The Water Recycling Funding Program provides grants and financing to 
eligible applicants for the construction of water recycling facilities. Construction projects may be 
funded with grants and low interest financing from a state bond, a CWSRF financing agreement, 
or combinations of funding sources.  Eligible applicants are local public agencies, nonprofit 
organizations, public utilities, state & federal recognized Indian tribes, and mutual water companies.


State Water Resources Control Board: Proposition 1 Small Community Wastewater Program


Deadline: Continuous

Amount/Financing:   $260 Million allocated to program.  Like CWSRF (see above) there is no 
maximum funding or disbursement limits. Financing Term up to 30 years or the useful life of 
the project.  Interest Rate is ½ the most recent General Obligation (GO) Bond Rate at time 
of funding approval.

Eligibility:  Most cities, towns, districts, or other public bodies created under state law, including
 state agencies

Section 79723 of Prop 1 allocates $260 million to the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Small 
Community Grant (SCG) Fund. The State Water Board has an annual SCG appropriation of $8 million 
dollars, which is administered consistent with the CWSRF Intended Use Plan (IUP), and the CWSRF 
Policy. The Prop 1 funds will supplement existing SCG authority. Eligible projects are similar to the 
CWSRF program and include, but are not limited to:
  1. Construction of publicly-owned treatment facilities: Wastewater treatment; Local sewers; Sewer interceptors; Water reclamation and distribution; Stormwater treatment; Combined sewers; Landfill leachate treatment
  2. Implementation of nonpoint source (NPS) projects to address pollution associated with: Agriculture; Forestry; Urban Areas; Marinas; Hydromodification; Wetlands

The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is a joint initiative between Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association designed to promote and enhance the growth of youth participation in baseball and softball around the world by funding programs, fields, coaches' training, uniforms, and equipment. Grants are intended to finance a new program, expand or improve an existing program, undertake a new collaborative effort, or obtain facilities or equipment necessary for youth baseball or softball programs. The Baseball Tomorrow Fund supports projects that meet the following evaluation criteria: increase the number of youth participating in baseball and softball programs; improve the quality of youth baseball and softball programs.

6/15/17- Southern California Associate Harout Harry Semerdjian represented California Consulting, LLC at a Welcome Reception for Honorable Janice Hahn, Supervisor Fourth District, County of Los Angeles. The event was organized by Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in partnership with Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed). 6/14/17-  California Consulting, LLC CEO, Steve Samuelian, attended the TELACU event on Friday, June 9th. The Lizarraga Family hosted one of the premiere events of the year in Southern California.
