Shalom Chaverim,

As we have all been watching developing news about the Coronavirus, we thought we would pass along information, distributed by the Centers for Disease Control, about the virus, and tips for preventing exposure.

Here in our temple home, we are happy to see one another. We are a "huggy" group and we love that about our community.  But with the flu season upon us and the advice from the CDC, we suggest going with an elbow bump (elbow to elbow) and a warm smile instead of our usual handshakes, hugs and kisses. Let's b e gentle, kind, and safe!

If you are not well or feel that you should avoid large gatherings, you can live stream services or other programs that take place in the sanctuary. Simply go to   www.ourbethel.org/pray/livestream   .

According to the Centers for Disease Control, measures for avoiding the Flu are the best ways to avoid exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19:
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick. Keep your child or teen home from religious school if they are sick. If anyone in your household is sick, the rest of the household should stay home to avoid spreading the illness.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • When grazing at the oneg tables, be sure to use serving utensils, rather than your hands, when taking the food.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently. This can't be repeated enough. It is the most recommended step to avoid spreading germs.

We also want to share with you that we are following CDC guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing   the temple, using extra precautions around doorknobs, light switches and the like. Hand sanitizing stations will appear as soon as supplies are available.

If you are not well, or you think you have the virus or the flu, please let us know. You will have our wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. If you are healthy, please do all you can to remain so!

L'shalom and thank you for your cooperation,
