Knitwear was never more hideous than on Dec. 13 when the College of Nursing became a winter wonderland of ugly Christmas sweaters.
Judges adjudicating the ugly sweater contest awarded top honors to
Marc Rosales, whose partridge-on-a-shoulder, lighted holiday extravaganza had revelers revolting.
Maikelyn Lopez's custom tinsel-trimmed Christmas tree creation took second place. And
Marissa Kearney's Elf movie-inspired ensemble came in third.

Smooth Sailing Through the Holidays

Thanks to all who donated travel size toiletry items to support the world's seafarers who come through the Port of Tampa during the holidays.
These cargo ship workers are far from home and can spend months at sea before coming into port. These small items of soaps, toothbrushes and shampoos make a big difference to this underserved population.

Spring RN-BS Cohort Set To Start

Dean Victoria L. Rich, PhD, RN, FAAN, welcomed next semester's RN to BS cohort during an orientation on Dec. 11.
The college is expecting 149 students in the
Spring 2020 cohort, which has an average overall GPA of 3.37.
About 25 students attended the orientation to meet faculty and instructors before classes begin on Jan. 13.

Dr. Buck was quoted in a news story about a recent study that showed how more people are choosing to die at home, instead of in a hospital.

Global Citizen Award certificate in December.
Nickson earned points for completing designated on-campus global events and activities.

Latino Nursing Student Wins Scholarship
Congratulations to USF College of Nursing student
Lianciet Rodriguez, who was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the
West Florida National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) for 2019.
Rodriguez is an active member of the local NAHN chapter and is an emerging nurse leader within the Hispanic community.
