Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
The extraordinary events of these recent weeks have impacted our community in many ways. We have seen neighbors and friends suffer the loss of home and property. We have witnessed an outpouring of Christian service, charity, and compassion. During prayer, we talked about how, in life, we all have crosses to bear. Christ challenges us to pick up our cross, whatever it is, and follow Him. When we are not too burdened with our own crosses, we are called to help other carry theirs. "We must be ready to carry the burden of anyone whom we meet on our way and who clearly needs help...We are here on earth to help to carry the cross of Christ, the Christ hidden in other human beings, and to help in whatever way we can...We may have a strong arm to give; we may have time. We may have only suffering (to offer up)." (Caryll Houselander, Magnificat, September, 2017)
Getting back to school has been wonderful! The OLQP staff forged through the flood waters to get materials to provide instruction. St. Michael's staff and community have been most gracious and generous. The students have been amazing. They have shared their stories and processed much of what has happened in the community. They have been supportive and respectful of each other. We have embarked again on our journey of learning and living our Faith as a family at OLQP. What a blessing!
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.
