Information from Fr. David
Dear Good Shepherd family,

As a reminder, Bishop Mariann has directed that churches in the Diocese of Washington be closed until May 16th.

One effect of this pastoral direction from Bp. Marian is that our observance of Holy Week and Easter will be very different this year. Our wardens, our vestry and I will be having conversations in the coming weeks to determine exactly what our observance of Holy Week and Easter will look like so please stay tuned. Also, if you have suggestions or thoughts about this, please be in touch.

Please be assured that you all continue to be in my prayers and I remain with you in Spirit even as it is not possible to be physically together. Remember that my mobile number is 202-491-4340 and my email is [email protected] and feel free to be in touch via text, phone or email if you have questions, need someone to pray with or someone to talk to. Also, please keep being deliberate about keeping touch with each other and praying for one another.

I will be celebrating the Eucharist and discussing the readings on Facebook Live on Wednesdays at 11:30 am.  I encourage you to join these virtual worship opportunities as way of remaining connected to one another and the wider Church. Finally, we continue to provide updates via email and on Good Shepherd's website and Facebook page.

Yesterday (March 25), we sent out this Sunday's bulletin as a worship resource. And again you may tune into the cathedral service Sunday morning at 11:15 am at www.cathedral.org.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Saint Luke Food Pantry Drive-by Food Collection
Overflowing Generosity and Blessings -
So many of you came by to drop off bags of staples for Saint Luke Food Pantry on Sunday, March 22,  that it took three cars for us to transport everything to Saint Luke.  Ruth Manchester, who coordinates the food pantry, was overwhelmed when she arrived to unlock the Saint Luke door for us.  It took us several trips using two shopping carts and a push cart to get everything up to the hall outside the food pantry where volunteers have their work cut out for them before the arrival of clients on Tuesday and Thursday.  May God bless all of those who so faithfully tend to the amazing outreach of the Saint Luke Food Pantry.

A number of people also brought their March pledge contribution with them! Fr. David kept busy moving from one car to another to greet those inside and extend God's blessing.  Lots of photos were taken, which will find a place to be shared.  Will this opportunity take place again?  In this time of great uncertainty, we will see.  In the meantime, it won't hurt to throw a few extra nutritious staples in your shopping cart whenever you go to the grocery store or add them to your list if you order online.  Social Ministries gives special thanks to Fr. David, Debbie Beebe, Shaun Hardy, Allen Wyrick, and Greg and Lynn Wood.  May peace and health be with all of you.

A message from Deena Groshong, Senior Warden
Hello church family and friends!  I hope all are doing well.  As we adjust to this "new normal," I'd like to remind everyone that Good Shepherd's financial situation continues as before.  We would appreciate it, if you are able, to keep your pledge up-to-date by mailing a personal or bank-issued check to the office weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.  As we practice "social distancing," let us remember that we are always connected through the love of God.  Take care.

Heifer -    Our 2020 Heifer Lenten Project will be postponed until further notice.  It would be appreciated if everyone kept their "piggy banks" at home until the Ingathering date is announced.  What's the difference between a cow and a pig? Well, one's a pig...  Thank you to all.

The Return of the Way of Love!   In an effort to maintain and strengthen our sense of community, I would like to offer (virtually) an Adult Education series revisiting the Way of Love - remember that?   In nine sessions, we will emphasize developing spiritual practices to help us in our daily lives.  We hope to begin  on Tuesday, March 31.  If you are interested in participating, please contact me at:  [email protected], 202-510-3716, by email, text, or phone.   And please feel free to contact me at any time by one or more of these methods.  I'm available most of the time these days!
