We need your help!

Catholic Charities has been working diligently to consolidate its resources like cleaning supplies, gloves, masks and gowns. They are especially in need of masks. They have been able to find fabric and thread, but there is a serious shortage of elastic.  If you have a stash of elastic, bias tape, or grosgrain ribbon, call the parish office, or contact   Diane Zbasnik who will arrange to pick it up .

And remember, if you are out enjoying a Sunday afternoon drive and are passing by Saint Mary Magdalene, please know I will be in Room 104 with the window down praying the Rosary at 3PM with my Wayne Newton Microphone. If you want to join, just pull your car up to Room 104, roll down your window a little bit and pray with me. Room 104 is the classroom right next to the Parish Center Awning.
St. Corona, Patroness of Epidemics
St. Corona, Patroness of Epidemics

Happy Holy 5 th Sunday of Lent! I hope you are safe and well. Sophia Institute Press sent me an email about St. Corona and a prayer. I never knew there was a Saint Corona.. . I only knew about the beer from Mexico.  Actually, a German cathedral has relics of St. Corona and is working on putting out a display for public veneration. She was brutally martyred in the 2nd century. Not only is she a patroness of epidemics but also of treasure hunters - so if you are out there hunting for a treasure at a flea market, garage sale, or on the beach, ask St. Corona for prayers.

According to the Sophia Institute Press, St. Corona witnessed the martyrdom of St. Victor, a soldier who was executed by his brothers-in-arms for his faith. While Victor was being tortured and disfigured, the brave 16-year-old Corona cried out comforting words and encouragement as Victor held fast to his faith and gave up his life for the Lord. Victor’s persecutors soon turned on Corona and executed her by tying her to drawn palm trees, which ripped her in half when snapped upright. Yet the young saint never gave up her faith.

Prayer to St. Corona in a Time of Epidemic
Lord Jesus Christ,
You came into this world
for our salvation.
Look kindly on us now, we pray,
that we, and all those who serve You,
might be kept safe from this epidemic.
Heal those who are sick,
comfort the suffering, bring back
those who have gone astray, and
above all, increase our faith, O Lord.
Give us the grace to follow You and,
like the martyr St. Corona, who gave
her life for love of You, to take up our
crosses daily without fear or hesitation.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the
living God, have mercy on us and
on the whole world.
St. Corona, patroness of
epidemic victims, pray for us.

In Christ,
Fr. Steve Breck
Pastor, St. Mary Magdalene
