Dear Family & Friends of Plymouth Christian Academy,

In writing to you today, I intend to continue to provide factual, up to date information as it relates to the COVID-19 outbreak. We are continuing to monitor the developments of coronavirus and are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other health agencies. We want to assure you that we convene daily and are prepared and ready to take the necessary precautions to safeguard the health of our entire school community. At this time, there are still no cases reported in the state of Michigan. But with the increase in testing across the United States, there has been an increase in people testing positive.

The health and safety of our students and staff are utmost in our minds. Because of this, we are emphasizing practices that are recommended for the prevention of illness, measures such as proper handwashing, use of hand sanitizer, and staying home when you're ill. We have also assessed our cleaning routines, increased the strength of our disinfectants, and stepped up the cleaning intervals. The disinfectants we are using have been approved by the EPA to deal with viruses, and we routinely sanitize and clean our facilities, including all classrooms, restrooms, common areas, kitchens, and school busses.

In a time when information is readily available and circulated, it is understandable for our students to have questions or may feel uneasy. It's essential to educate ourselves and help our young people understand the facts. The article below is just one of many helpful guides as you consider age-appropriate discussions with your family.

As we learn more about the potential progression of the virus, we are considering the adjustments and changes that may be warranted concerning upcoming school events & activities, travel, and field trips. We are updating our website on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when warranted. You can find our page by visiting: www.plymouthchristian.org/health-wellness/ . There, you will also find previous updates to our school community, helpful links and resources, and frequently asked questions. Please use this as a primary resource for staying informed about what's happening at PCA regarding COVID-19.

The amount of news surrounding this issue can be overwhelming at times, and our hearts and prayers go out to those who are ill and suffering loss. We are reminded that He is the only one who can calm our fears. It is wise to protect ourselves, but at the same time, we have this assurance that we can bring all of our uncertainties and concerns to the Lord. "Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you." I Peter 5:7

In Him,
Caryn Huntsman
