Dear Concord Hill School Community;
In our ongoing efforts to monitor and evaluate the community health risks resulting from the spread of COVID-19, I have decided, with the support of my Administrative Team and the Board of Directors Executive Committee, that this year’s Spring Break will begin at the conclusion of school tomorrow, Friday, March 13.
I want to reassure you that we have zero confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 within the Concord Hill community. As the safety and well-being of our community is our highest priority, given the rapidly changing situation surrounding COVID-19, we feel it is most prudent to begin the break early to mitigate the potential spread of the virus in our community. This action is consistent with decisions being made by numerous area schools over the last 24 hours.
Home Learning
Over the last few days we have begun to discuss plans for ensuring the continuity of learning if a situation like this were to occur. Our teachers engaged in trainings yesterday with Seesaw and Zoom, the primary tools that we will use to facilitate Home Learning for our students. Our faculty and staff will report to campus on Monday and Tuesday next week to begin developing their Home Learning programs. Teachers will be piloting lessons and activities for families who would like to participate on Wednesday and Thursday next week. More details will be forthcoming.
Materials
Tomorrow, students will bring home any school materials needed for future Home Learning. An important requirement for our Home Learning program is high-speed Internet access and an Internet-enabled device, for a limited amount of time each day. Spring Break Travel
In addition we ask that all families carefully consider the following prior to travel:
- After return from travel to one of the above locations, you may be asked to stay home for 14 days, the maximum incubation period for the virus.
- Please strongly consider travel interruptions and the potential impact on you, your family, and your community.
