The Essex Community Historical Society in Essex, Vermont, received a 2017 Community Preservation Grant for the restoration of the National Register-listed 1893 Fort Ethan Allen Water Tower. The grant enabled the historical society to resume interpretation and public visits and bring renewed attention to the landmark.
Each year Historic New England awards a $1,000 grant to a heritage organization in each of the six New England States.
These grants support projects that raise the visibility of historic preservation and further Historic New England's goal of saving and sharing diverse stories of life in our region.
