GROWTH SEMINAR:
GOD AT WORK AT YOUR WORK
THIS SUNDAY | AUGUST 19 | 9:30 AM | SEMINAR ROOM

Join us at 9:30 am this Sunday, August 19,  in the Seminar Room for this semester's installment of our Growth Seminar series. Designed as a supplement to your Grow Group experience, these seminars help us dig deeper in a particular area of following Jesus. This time, we'll be exploring the intersection of faith and work: "God at Work at Your Work." At the seminar:
  • We'll unpack several of the most common myths about work.
  • You'll hear the faith/work stories of several real-life VRBCers.
  • We'll give you four simple, practical, non-threatening ways to share Jesus with your co-workers that you can start using the very next day.
  • You'll discuss your own vocation with fellow participants and identify specific ways you can integrate your faith into your work.
To register, visit us online at at vrbc.net/gs .
NEWCOMERS RECEPTION
AUGUST 26 | 12:15 TO 12:45 PM

If you are new to VRBC, you are invited to a Newcomers Reception in your honor on Sunday, August 26! At this informal, 30-minute gathering after the worship service, you'll have the opportunity to get to know some of our church staff, as well as meet others who are new to the church. You'll receive great hospitality and food, PLUS you'll have a chance to win some cool prizes.

No RSVP is required to attend--just come! Children of all ages are also welcome, so please pick up your children after the worship service and bring them with you to the reception, held on the east side of the church lobby.

If you have any questions about the Newcomers Reception, please contact Amy Wilkins, Pastor of Serve & Invite, at [email protected].
FALL GROW GROUPS BEGIN SEPTEMBER 9
REGISTRATION STARTS THIS SUNDAY!

Grow Groups will begin meeting on September 9  at various times and locations throughout the week  for the fall semester, and registration gets underway this Sunday! Y ou can check out the catalog insert provided in this week's worship folder or our fall catalog will be posted online this Sunday, August 19, for you to look over.

I'M NEW . . . WHAT IS A GROW GROUP?
A Grow Group is a group of 10 to 20 people who meet together each week to grow to be more like Jesus, and it's definitely THE BEST way to get connected at VRBC.

HOW DO I PICK A GROW GROUP THAT'S RIGHT FOR ME?
All of our groups will be listed in our catalog, and you can pick the one that looks the most appealing to you. One note . . . even though some of our groups list age-based descriptions, feel free to choose whichever group fits best for you, even if you don't quite fit the description.

HOW DO I REGISTER? THREE EASY WAYS--PICK ONE!
  • Register for a Grow Group at vrbc.net/grow (on or after Sunday, August 19).
  • Visit the Grow Group booth in the church lobby this Sunday morning before or after the worship service.
  • Mark the Connection Card found in your Sunday worship folder.
I'M STILL NOT SURE . . . WHY SHOULD I JOIN A GROW GROUP?
We can tell you lots of reasons to join a Grown Group, but don't just take our word for it! Click here to watch a short video and hear why EVERYONE should be a part of a Grow Group!

REMINDER : Even if you are planning on staying in the same Grow Group, you must register for the fall session.  For more information, go to vrbc.net/grow
SERVE ON THE WELCOME TEAM!
TRAINING THIS SUNDAY | AUGUST 19 | 11:00 AM

Would you consider serving one week per month on the VRBC Welcome Team? This team of volunteers ensures that every person who comes to VRBC on a Sunday morning has a great experience, beginning with the moment they drive into the parking lot. The first word of our mission statement is inviting, and this team helps us create a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyone who attends VRBC.

We have many opportunities for volunteers, including in the parking lot, at both church entrances, in the lobby, at the Welcome Center, at the kids' check-in area, and in the Sanctuary. If you enjoy smiling, meeting people, and sharing the love of Christ through a warm welcome, whether you've been worshipping at VRBC for twenty years or one week, we'd love to have you on the team!

TRAINING
We will have Welcome Team training THIS Sunday, August 19, during the 11:00 service. To attend, or to learn more about serving on the Welcome Team, please email Arthur Mendes at  [email protected]

HOSPITALITY TEAM
You could also serve on the Welcome Team as a member of our hospitality team. This great team helps prepare, set up, and serve breakfast on Sunday mornings for our worship services. If you are interested in learning more about serving in this way, please contact Dana Deloach at [email protected].
"DROP YOUR PANTS" MEN'S CLOTHING DRIVE
AUGUST 26 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 9

Join our very own Bob Sturm from The Ticket's BaD Radio and The Hardline in dropping (and donating!) your pants, jeans, shorts, and other items of men's clothing you no longer need to the Cornerstone Clothes Closet, which serves more than 800 homeless men each month.

"Drop Your Pants" will take place Tuesday, September 11, in front of the Victory Plaza broadcasting station by American Airlines Center (located near Valor Place and Olive Street in Dallas) from 12:00 to 5:30 pm. Just drive up and drop off your donation.

In advance of the "Big Day" at Victory Plaza, we will be hosting a clothing collection drive right here at VRBC! For your convenience, clothing donations may be dropped off at collection bins in the church lobby anytime from August 26 through September 9.

SERVE OPPORTUNITIES

AT THE EVENT: Volunteers are needed to intake, sort, and box clothing donations at the Victory Plaza broadcasting station from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm as listeners drive up and drop off clothing items. To volunteer, click here.

IN YOUR POCKET: To make a financial donation to the Clothes Closet in lieu of dropping your pants, click here.

LOGSDON PARTNERSHIP WITH VRBC
VRBC MEMBERS MAY AUDIT FALL CLASSES FOR FREE

For the past several years, Logsdon Seminary has offered a selection of classes on-site at VRBC. Because of our church's arrangement with Logsdon, VRBC members can audit these courses for free. If you have an interest in preaching, sermons, or even just learning how to present Bible studies in a more effective way, you are welcome to join us (first come, first served). Please fill out this form and email it to Teresa Brundige at  [email protected] by August 27 to let us know of your interest.

If you missed it, Pastor Larry wrote a blog at Lonesome Pulpit about the class he will be teaching this fall as a part of the Logsdon curriculum. Click here to read and learn more about this wonderful partnership.
