Bike Touring & Tents: Exploring Ontario's Historic Waterways
For cyclists that enjoy camping, there are now new camping options along the Trent Severn Waterway and Rideau Canal in eastern Ontario.
Parks Canada has opened up sites for campers at many of the lock stations that are situated along these two national historic and incredibly scenic waterways. Pitch a tent and make use of the facilities, ride from one lock to another, or set up a base camp at a lock of your choice. Camping fees are under $5 per person per night and space is allocated on a first come first serve basis. Larger cycling groups can make special arrangements and advance bookings. Some locks also have
oTENTiks
options, a comfy cross between tent and cabin.

Have a say! What's your Favourite?
There are few occasions in life that are more rewarding than a post-ride treat!
For some it's a scoop (or 2) of ice cream, for others its a cool drink or a baked good.

Get Your Fall Ride On In Halton Region
With September looming, there are some big ride events and colourful ride destinations that are a must. Put Halton Region in your September cycling calendar and start making plans to get your bike to this area just west of Toronto, from the lakefront in Burlington and Oakville north to the Escarpment and Halton Hills.
September 9 is the date for the annual
GTA Gran Fondo / Epic Tour, the largest of its kind in Canada. Tour the countryside around the Niagara Escarpment, riding out from Kelso Conservation Area on your choice from 6 routes ranging in distances of 50km to 170km. Don't miss the finish line festival, bike expo, beer and BBQ, and live music. Be sure to stop by the Ontario By Bike tent to say hello and pick up some new maps or ideas for your next ride.
As the fall colours settle in, choose to explore more of the area on one of the popular 8 on-road routes or if mountain biking is your preferred ride, head to one of
Conservation Halton's trail destinations for a variety of challenges.
For cyclists, no visit to the area would be complete without a stop at the
velodrome in Milton. Now renting road bikes for use out of the facility and on the road, base your ride from this world class facility, or stay indoors for some track time and training. You'll hear more about this from us as the date approaches, but put October 26 to 28 in your calendar, and don't miss the most exciting spectator cycling event in Ontario - the
UCI Track Cycling World Cup.
