    Talking to Children About Disasters
Children can cope more effectively with a disaster when they feel they understand what is happening and what they can do to help protect themselves, family, and friends. Provide basic information to help them understand, without providing unnecessary details that may only alarm them.

What is an Individual Health Plan?
An Individual Health Plan (IHP) is a formal written agreement developed in collaboration with the student's family, the student, the school nurse and staff, and the student's health care providers.

An IHP ensures that the school has needed information and the authorization to address health care needs of the student while in school. It addresses family and school concerns and clarifies roles and responsibilities. Most importantly, it establishes a basis for ongoing teamwork, communication and evaluation.

There is not a specific IHP form that is used in N.C.. Instead, clearly identified information is required to be on the form.  A good example of the required information can be seen on the Forsyth County Schools' website. Click below if you want to see what the IHP information includes. The IHP example is the fourth form down from the top of the list.
