PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear International School Families,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 academic year. My name is Ching Guo, and I am honored to be your ISPTSA President. I have not been involved in the ISPTSA for very long, but have learned the importance of collaboration among our community—parents, teachers, and staff. International School PTSA believes that it is crucial that we do everything in our power to offer the preeminent educational resources to our children, and to enhance their skills not only in the fields of intellectual, creative, and physical strength, but also from the aspects of social relations and emotional well-being.

Remember to keep yourself informed by using all the International School resources, including the school website, the weekly Monday Messenger from ISPTSA, and the ISPTSA website for important dates and information. ISPTSA is also on social media, such as Facebook. There are other instrumental apps from the Bellevue School District, such as ParentVUE and apParent. ISPTSA general meetings welcome everyone to come and join us. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or just want to share an idea.

We are very fortunate that our school has a team of wonderful teachers, staff, and principal, who are always willing to help ISPTSA with its missions. However, the success of our school and our students also depends on our equally wonderful families and community. Becoming a member of the ISPTSA board is a great way of helping our school and our kids, getting to know other members of the community, and so much more. We also encourage you to simply volunteer and get involved!

Joining the International School is a great choice that has been made by us parents and our children. Likewise, let's choose participating in ISPTSA to better serve the school and the students. I'm looking forward to working with you this year.

Enjoy International School's Journey to Success!

Thank you,
Ching Guo
2018-2019 ISPTSA President

BACK TO BUSINESS DAY
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15

Schedule:
6th Grade: 8:00 AM             9th Grade: 11:00 AM
7th Grade: 9:00 AM            10th-12th Grades: 12:00 PM
8th Grade: 10:00 AM            Ends at 2:00 pm

Families are expected to download all the forms and information from the IS website at https://bsd405.org/international/2018/07/back-to-business-day/ . There will not be copies of the forms available at school, so please print them out in advance and bring the completed copies with you. Included online is a document explaining the fees by grade, so that you will know what to expect. The lines to pay fees can be very long, but you can beat the lines by paying online at https://touchbase.bsd405.org/

Again, please note that you may start paying online now. However, if you don’t mind the lines, you may pay in the main office or at the attendance window on Back to Business Day. The school now takes credit cards, checks, and cash! They can only do one transaction per student, so you will need at least one check per student to pay for class fees.

At Back to Business day, students will get their schedules and PE locks, be assigned lockers, receive ORCA cards to ride the Metro Bus (if eligible), have their photos taken, and pay fees.

If you are unable to make it on August 15, two additional days are being offered:  August 21 from 9:00-11:00 AM and August 22 from 5:00-7:00 PM .
School photos will not be taken on Mini Back to Business Days. Picture retakes and photos for students who were not able to make it on August 15 will take place on October 2.

If you are unable to come to Back to Business Day or a Mini Back to Business Day, please call 425-456-6500 to set up an appointment.
Do not just drop into the office.
BE A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY WITH PTSA MEMBERSHIP

Thanks to everyone who became a PTSA member last year and helped us receive the award for 100% membership, but really, we should have received an award for creating a community of caring supporters of IS. Our goal this year is to reach 100% Membership in PTSA of our IS community. That means we need 580 PTSA members. How does it work? Simple, we need one member for every student. We did it last year, let’s do it this year too.

Renew your membership with ISPTSA through this online link, or print out this form and bring it to Back to Business Day. ISPTSA will be there—with coffee and treats—to renew memberships and accept donations to our Fall Fundraiser.

If you are interested in helping out membership at IS, please contact Meribeth,  [email protected].

Best,
