Linking Lookout (US 6 & 19th St. Interchange)

There will be lane closures on mainline US 6 east and west the next few weeks for landscape work in the median.

The westbound on-ramp to US 6 from 19th Street is still closed and will remain closed until July 31. In addition to the grading needed on 19th Street and the westbound ramp, the contractor also will be connecting the waterline that comes up 19th to the line that goes over the bridge and on up 19th to the west. There are also two storm drain inlets and piping that need to be installed when the ramp and 19th Street grading is completed.

Pedestrians will continue to use the new sidewalk from Parfet Estates drive to the center of the lid, then the temporary asphalt connection to the marked pedestrian area along the roadway.
There is landscape, and irrigation work beginning on the lid and periodic work in other areas so please pay attention when you when you drive, walk or ride through the area.

Beginning July 31 drivers wishing to turn left from the westbound off-ramp uphill on 19th Street will need to go right to the roundabout at Elm and make a U-turn. Thes is necessary to allow space for the contractor to make grade changes needed. This left turn closure will last 4 weeks.

There is a construction viewing area in the northwest corner that can be accessed from Parfet Estates Drive, and is an excellent location to view ongoing work. Please park legally.

Golden Temporary Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

Due to dry weather, the Golden Fire Department (GFD) is once more imposing temporary Stage 1 fire restrictions effective as of Monday, July 10 at 5 p.m. These restrictions are for the corporate city limits of Golden and are independent. JeffCo has recently adopted a Stage 2 fire ban for the lands of Jefferson County.

All open burning, including bonfires; open flame torches and welding in wildfire risk areas and model rockets are prohibited. Also banned is the use of recreational fires within 30 feet of undeveloped areas including green belts and open space lands. Smoking within six feet of any outdoor area not cleared of combustible vegetation is also prohibited.

Exceptions to these temporary restrictions include: supervised public fireworks displays by a state licensed operator (subject to specific GFD operational permit requirements); outdoor cooking fires contained within commercial gas fueled grills, enclosed wood or wood pellet grills or smokers; enclosed outdoor fireplaces or chimineas; powered  yard equipment for landscape purposes; any federal, state or local law enforcement officer or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.

The fire restrictions will remain in effect indefinitely. Fire Chief John Bales will continue to monitor the risks and reassess as the weather changes.
