Administrator's Corner
Dear Parents,
Please note that April 27th will be a half day for students in DPS. Teachers will be taking part in a statewide rally of educators. Please see Tom Boasberg's letter here.
On the 27th, we will end school after 4th period, and students will still get lunch from 11:20-12:04 p.m. Students will need to leave campus after lunch. Transportation will still be available and the Shakespeare Festival will still be going on as well downtown. Also, after school activities and practice will resume at their scheduled times.
All of the Pep Assembly events that we had planned on Friday will be moved to Thursday the 26th, as well as the Talent Show.

The JROTC Color Guard and #1 Honor Platoon recently were given the opportunity to perform at the Pepsi Center for the Annual Colorado Sports Breakfast and Fundraiser hosted by the regional Boy Scouts of America. The event was attended by over 900 people representing the Denver/Colorado sports community, area businesses and sports figures from various colorado professional teams. The Color Guard opened up the event with Rebecca Rutt singing the National Anthem and then the Honor Platoon performed a routine to entertain the attendees.
Afterwards the teams were treated to breakfast in their very own private skybox at the Pepsi Center. Way to go!

Thomas Jefferson High School's Honor Platoon Drill Team
r
eturned Sunday April 15th from the Army Drill National Championships held in Louisville KY. The 2018 National Championship Meet set a record this year as the largest individual service drill meet ever held in the US with 97 teams competing in the two catagories.
The team finished 5th overall for the meet, placing as high as 4th in the individual events.
The Honor Platoon now begins preparing for the All-Services National Championships held in Daytona FL 4-6 May. Great work, Spartans!

It is open from 7:15-3:00 any day of the week. Appointment is not necessary however it is not guaranteed someone will be in the mental health office to assist without a prior appointment.

Immigration Forum - May 2
|
The Hispanic Latino Club has scheduled our Spring Immigration Forum at TJ on May 2nd at 5:30 pm in 111. Arturo Jimenez will be presenting the latest information on Immigration Law. We need help getting the word out, and would like to include all TJ community members that are impacted by current immigration issues.

Star Playgrounds
We're looking for people to help with our summer playground installations, specifically highschoolers who would need a summer job. Basic requirements: are no felony background, be able to lift a bag of concrete, and be able to get to our office on SantaFe & Titan Parkway. Last year we had kids biking here! We start at 7am, pay $13-15/hr, and have an awesome office manager! They get to work outside assembling playgrounds. Right now we're looking for bodies from end of April or May until the fall. This position is a year round position, during the school year the students will primarily work every Saturday and can work 3-4 days a week during the summer/winter/spring break. Gymnastics season starts in the fall! Any ladies interested in learning gymnastics, making new friends, or getting involved in the school community should consider joining the gymnastics team.
We are a competitive team, who won City Championships in 2015 and qualified to state our last 2 seasons, and are looking for athletes who are willing to learn new things and want to have fun with a good group of girls!
Experience preferred but not necessary, coaches can teach you what you need to know! We are welcoming athletes and managers. There will be an informational meeting coming soon, details to follow.

TJ Spartan Spirit Store
is now in two places for your convenience-online and in the main hallway at TJ between the gym and auditorium. The store is also set up at select school events including athletic events, concerts, plays and conference nights.

- On-campus Spirit Store hours are on Fridays during lunch only. A couple of our wonderful parents alternate shifts to make the store convenient and accessible to students. It's also open during various special events. Julie Thibodeau will continue to be available at other times for the occasional urgent or spontaneous purchase.
