At Christ Church, we have been doing our best to adjust the way we communicate. I got an email this morning from a friend who had wondered why she had not heard from me. Others have thanked me for my daily messages. This is because we transitioning to new forms of communication. Let me walk you through them.

Here are some things to be aware of:
1. The bishop has suspended all public worship in the Diocese of New York. Our buildings are closed to thepublic until May 17. We are allowed to continue to provide essential services during this time: feeding programs, childcare for essential services workers, etc.
2. This week we will be closing Christ Church on Sunday, March 22 - March 29. No one will be able to come in or out. This is to give the virus time to become ineffective (3-4 days) and Notoe to do a thorough cleaning of the building. Staff will work from home.
3. The homeless shelter has been relocated to the pods on the grounds at the Dutchess County Jail. These pods have showers, toilets, and ample room between beds. They will also have 24 hour a day staff and access to better medical care should they become sick. We are thankful to Hudson River Housing and Marcus Molinaro for working to ensure that the homeless population is safe and well-cared for during this emergency.
We are all uncertain about what our ministry will look like in these coming months. We are trying to remain nimble and well-informed so that we can respond quickly to needs as they arise. The wardens and I are committed to making sure that Christ Church remains relevant during this crisis. You can be assured that we are working on ways to be of use.
We are asking for every parishioner to
download Zoom on their phone or computer. Since I am unable to come to the hospital or make any visits, Zoom offers a way for me to meet with you face to face. I am also available by phone (845) 304-4759 or by email
[email protected].
Please let us know if you are sick or in need of anything. We have resources even now - a chaplain at Vassar Hospital who can still make visits, volunteers who are willing to shop for you, and a group of faithful parishioners who are able to pray for you. The world may have changed but Christ Church still remains a strong congregation of faithful people.
In Faith,
