Dear Panther Parents,
The days are counting down, summer is coming to an end, and the best school year ever is upon us! We look forward to seeing everyone at Meet the Teacher on Tuesday. 6th grade parents, please take note of the change in time: 4:30-5:30 is Meet the Teacher and 5:30-6:00 is my parent information meeting in the cafeteria. 7th and 8th graders are welcome from 6:00-7:00.
Parking will bring about some new challenges this year due to our Fine Arts addition that will be completed for the 2019-2020 school year. Please be mindful of this and expect limited parking for school events this year. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.
Come join us for our Community Picnic at Old Settlers Park on August 16th from 4:30-6:00. We will be serving up some free hot dogs, chips, and cold waters. This is a great opportunity to mingle with new Panther friends and staff members.
Our teachers are working hard in preparation for an exciting year. We can't wait to get started!

Hello Evans Families! The Evans PTO would like to welcome you for a very exciting 2018-2019 school year. Last year, the PTO: * Awarded $3000 in teacher grants * Sponsored the IMPACT carnival and 8th Grade celebration * Funded two scholarships to graduating Evans' seniors * Presented multiple parent enrichment workshops * Helped to support academic programs like the spelling bee, UIL, and AVID * Hosted teacher appreciation events throughout the year
Most importantly, our PTO plays a crucial role in helping to create an environment that is nurturing, educational, and exciting for all of our Panthers. Our membership form is attached to this email. Please consider printing out this form and bringing it with you to Meet the Teacher on August 14th. Or go online at evanspto.com.
Upcoming Dates * August 14 - Meet the Teacher: In addition to picking up schedules and meeting teachers, you can pick up school supply packs, order spirit wear, become a PTO member, and help us kick off our check-writing campaign. Again this year we will be offering "early bird hours" from 11 am - 1 pm. (The schedules and teachers will not be available during this time, but you can get spirit wear, membership, and school supplies without the long lines.) Check-writing Campaign After overwhelming parent feedback, we are again offering a check-writing campaign as our fundraiser ... NO SELLING required. But, to meet our budget, we need all families to participate. For every $10 donated, your family will receive a raffle entry for some amazing prizes donated by local business. The fundraiser runs until August 31, but we will kick off the fundraiser at Meet the Teacher with a complimentary raffle ticket for each new membership and double tickets for all donations made that day.
Spirit Wear
The Evans PTO is offering new spirit wear as well as bringing back some old favorites. There is a long-sleeved t-shirt option as well as short-sleeved and glitter designs. The order form is attached or you can order online at evanspto.com.
If you'd like to skip the line entirely, you can do everything online at
evanspto.com
.
We are looking forward to another amazing year at Evans and partnering with our families to keep our school outstanding! Julie Luton President, Evans PTO [email protected]

We are so lucky to have so many wonderful volunteers who make it possible for us to make our school the very best it can be! Please remember that if you are a returning volunteer, or maybe a first time MISD volunteer, that you must go online to fill out a Volunteer Application and be approved before you can serve in any capacity where you will have contact with students. Sometimes this takes a couple of weeks, so please do it as soon as possible! We need you!!!
Click HERE to go directly to the link.
Thank you so very much! We look forward to having you on our campus!
Note:
Volunteer applications may take up to two weeks to be processed.
If after two weeks you have not been contacted regarding your volunteer status, please contact MISD Human Resources at 469-302-4117. DO NOT contact staff members at schools regarding your volunteer application. Your application is a confidential matter.
Once you are approved, you will be able to volunteer in the district throughout the school year.
