Approval or Denial To Proceed With Plans For These Buildings Will Be Made By St. Germain Voters This Month

The Town Board decided at a special meeting on July 26th to recommend to the voters that the Red Brick Schoolhouse be removed and the Community Center be repurposed as a recreation building to adjoin a new Town Hall. The final floor plan and exterior site plan for the proposed project can be viewed in detail on the Town Website.

Two opportunities for voters to learn more about the proposed project prior to a special elector meeting have been scheduled. At each meeting, Melody Hamlin from Funktion Design Studio will explain the series of events over the past two years that led the Town Board to decide on its recommendation. Tom Christensen, Town Chairman, will also explain how the project would be paid for and what property owners could expect as an increase in property taxes. Those two meeting will be held:
Thursday, August 16, 6:00PM, Community Center
Tuesday, August 21, 7:00PM, Community Center

A special meeting of the electors of St. Germain will occur on August 30 at which time the Town Board will seek approval to:
  1. Tear down the Red Brick Schoolhouse
  2. Build the proposed new Town Hall
  3. Secure funding to proceed with the project
Only individuals eligible to vote in St. Germain will be provided a ballot. Neither absentee nor proxy ballots will not be allowed (per State Statutes). That meeting will occur:
Thursday, August 30, 7:00PM, Community Center.

It is not anticipated that any discussion of the proposed building will be included on the agenda for the regular monthly Town Board meeting on August 13.
