New and Notable

"Without music, life would be blank to me." -Jane Austen

It has been an incredibly busy and exhilarating month, and it is only March 8th!  I have been incredibly fortunate to be a GMEA judge for for the state and to judge the Gwinett County District 13 LGPE Orchestra.

This week, I attended the National ASTA conference in Florida.  I was able to work with and meet many composers, attend several informative sessions. listen to National Orchestra Performances, and learn about new music being published!

EXTRA!EXTRA!
John Riley, a Harp Guitarist, presented the history of the instrument and demonstrated its beauty through several songs.

What do you like about RHS Orchestra and Why?
It's a place where I can just chill and play music with some enjoyable people

What has been your most memorable  experience as a part of the RHS Orchestra?
Performing at the Tower of Talent my freshman year

What do you know about music that you wish you knew when you were younger?
Music is a universal language

What advice do you want to give to younger players - either middle school or HS?
Don't be too stressed about too many things, but also don't slack off on practicing.  It really hurts when you spend all that time practicing but don't really take pride in what you're playing.

What do you with you could do better musically than you do now?
Be able to sight read better

What is your favorite motto or quote?
There's a time and a place for everything, but not for music

If you could start your music career over again, what would you change, if anything?
Take more consideration into my practice

Where do you want to go to college and will you continue to study music?
Georgia Tech: play, not study
