Forest Carbon
Architectural Heritage are Carbon Club 50 members meaning 50 tonnes of CO2 are captured through the planting of 200 trees each year in a larger new UK woodland.
Since joining the scheme in November Architectural Heritage have captured a total of 14 tonnes of CO2, helping to plant approximately 56 trees covering 0.1 hectares.
Founded in 2006, Forest Carbon leads the way in voluntary carbon woodland creation in the UK. Through the planting of over 8.4 million new trees in 167+ new woodlands in the UK since 2006, Forest Carbon partners’ projects are removing over 1,900,000 tonnes of CO2 from the global atmosphere, as well as providing a host of other benefits to society, including flood mitigation, river improvement and public access.
The quality of Forest Carbon schemes is assured by the UK government’s Woodland Carbon Code which certifies projects in important areas like biodiversity, ‘additionality’, risk management and carbon capture measurement.
The new UK woodlands won't just capture CO2, they'll also have wider benefits, including flood mitigation, cleaner rivers and air, habitat for wildlife, public access and supporting employment. A definite win for the environment and for society as a whole.
