LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR
PERSONAL INJURY CASE ASSIGNMENT CHANGES
  
Effective August 1, 2018, if a personal injury case is assigned for trial to a judge that is not on 1 of 2 lists (see link below), then the parties have sixty (60) minutes after the matter is assigned to exercise a peremptory challenge pursuant to CCP Section 170.6
 
Additionally, effective August 1, 2018, the assignment of any personal injury case deemed "complicated" by one of the five Personal Injury Hub courtrooms and transferred to an Independent Calendar courtroom will be assigned for "all purposes except trial."  Department 1 delegates to the judge of that Independent Calendar courtroom the authority to assign the personal injury case for trial to that Independent Calendar courtroom.
 
LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR
NEW MANDATORY eFILING FEE
  
Beginning August 1, 2018, Los Angeles Superior Court is charging an eFiling service fee of $1.75 for each transaction, pursuant to CA Rules of Court, Rule 2.253 and Rule 2.506.
 
The above new fee will be in addition to the already charged $3.50 Mandatory Court/EFM fee, for Los Angeles Superior Probate filings, required statutory court filing fees, and EFSP fees.
LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR
FAMILY LAW DIVISION ANNOUNCES JUDICIAL ASSIGNMENT CHANGE
  
Effective September 4, 2018, the Central Family Law Division at Stanley Mosk Courthouse will implement the following change:
 
All matters assigned to Judge Armen Tamzarian, and calendared in Department 84 - WILL BE REASSIGNED to Judge Helen Zukin in Department 84 and shall remain scheduled on the dates and times previously set, unless otherwise notified.
 
Counsel and parties are instructed to identify the assigned judicial officer and department on the first page of all proposed orders lodged with the clerk, beneath the case number, to ensure proper distribution of documents.
RIVERSIDE SUPERIOR
CIVIL CALENDAR CHANGES
  
Effective now, ALL CASE MANAGEMENT HEARINGS (Case Management Conferences, Orders to Show Cause, Status Conferences, and Trial Setting Conferences) and trial assignments on cases originating from Palm Springs will be heard at the Historic Courthouse, Department 1 (Master Calendar), 4050 Main Street, Riverside, CA 92501
 
Law and Motion matters will continue to be scheduled and heard in Departments PS1 and PS2 at the Palm Springs Courthouse.
 
All documents pertaining to Palm Springs cases shall continue to be filed at the Palm Springs Courthouse.
FIRE CLOSURE - LAKE SUPERIOR
COURTHOUSE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY, AUGUST 6 DUE TO MENDOCINO COMPLEX FIRE
  
The LAKEPORT OFFICES will be closed July 30, 2018 through August 3, 2018. 
 
No hearings will be held and no filings will be accepted at the LAKEPORT COURTHOUSE.
 
All cases set for the week of July 30, 2018 through August 3, 2018 will be rescheduled.
 
All parties will be notified by mail.
 
FIRE CLOSURE - SHASTA SUPERIOR
COURTHOUSE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY, AUGUST 6 DUE TO CARR FIRE
  
All court facilities in Shasta County (Main Courthouse, Justice Center Departments 1 and 2, and Department 12) are closed to the public until Monday, August 6, 2018.
 
Persons having court dates during the period July 30 thru August 3 should contact their attorney for further information.  Court staff will be available to assist the public by phone on Friday, August 3rd.
 
Persons scheduled for jury duty including those assigned to ongoing trials do not have to report July 30 thru August 3.
 
Any temporary orders, protective orders and restraining orders expiring this week are ordered extended to August 10, 2018 at 4pm.
 
FIRE CLOSURE - TRINITY SUPERIOR
COURTHOUSE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY, AUGUST 6 DUE TO CARR FIRE
  
Trinity Court reopened Wednesday, August 1, after being closed for two days (July 30 and July 31) due to the Carr Fire.
