Keeping Families Close
Mission Moment: The Kindness of Others

" Sometimes when life seems empty and we feel alone, we discover the importance of the kindness of others. Thank you ALL for being a light in a dark and difficult time. Your kindness meant so very much and will not be forgotten!!!

A Message from our CEO

CEO, Michelle Study-Campbell, and special guest Rowdie hanging out with one of our pop tab volunteers!
July has been jam-packed with fun over here at the House. We've been busy with community fundraisers, celebrating our Chief Cheer Officer's, 2nd birthday and, of course, our 14th Annual Pop Tab & Coin Drop on Monument Circle!

Thank you to all who "popped" on over to Monument Circle on July 20, to enjoy live music, outdoor games and tons of fun! We were able to collect over 8 million pop tabs in the span of just 3 hours! It was an extra special day for some of our biggest pop tab supporters as we awarded our friend Larry "the Can Man" VanNess with two plaques (a Pop Tab Drop record!) for collecting his 16 AND 17 millionth pop tabs, all in one year! We also had a visit from our friends in Howard, Miami, Grant and Cass counties who dropped off a truckload of tabs -- more than 3.3 million to be exact! A special thank you to Jerry Paul, the American Legion Post 317, VFW Post 1152, Riley Kids of Howard County and all who help coordinate and participate in this effort. We appreciate you! Be sure to check out our Facebook page for photos from our fun-filled day!

It's been an exciting summer here at our House and we hope that you will keep us in mind for fall or winter community projects. From wish list drives, penny wars and meal prep -- we are always in need of a few extra hands to help continue to make RMHCCIN a "home-away-from-home" for our families. Be sure to read below for a few of our current needs or visit our website for additional opportunities to get involved!

Until next time!

Adopt a Room Spotlight_ TCC Gives graphic

The Adopt-a-Room program is a year-long sponsorship of a room or continuing care apartment at our Limestone and Riley Houses. The program provides families with much more than just a roof over their heads -- it helps to provide support, home-cooked meals and relief from their stressful situations. Most importantly, room partners are helping families focus on what matters most -- their seriously-ill or injured child.

This month we recognize TCC Gives, which is the corporate giving program of TCC. As a part of their commitment to doing good within their local community, teams from TCC have come out to support our House in so many ways! Whether they're volunteering at our
State of the House Annual Breakfast, prepping freezer meals or helping to organize our donations it's evident that TCC has a heart for our cause, stating, "
TCC Gives is comforted knowing a family experiencing a childhood illness has a place nearby their child to rest. We are grateful supporters of the RMH mission. "

We were pleased to welcome TCC Gives as a brand new Adopt-a-Room partner this year and are incredibly grateful for their support of our families. Thank you, TCC Gives, for everything you do!
Around the House

We've been taking full advantage of the unseasonably cool temperatures the last couple of weeks! Our families recently enjoyed a beautiful day decorating our sidewalks with chalk art and blowing bubbles.

Oh what fun! Our RMHCCIN "Christmas in July" bash was a huge success! Over the course of two days we enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by the  Lawrence Kiwanis Club, gift exchange games, crafts and story time. Santa even took a break from his vacation to visit with our families! Be sure to check out our Facebook album for additional photos.

Much like your own home, our House requires a lot of upkeep to provide a safe and comfortable "home-away-from-home" for up to 58 families each night.  Currently, we are running very low on cleaning and household supplies including liquid laundry detergent, paper towels, plastic forks and more!

As you're out doing your regular shopping, please consider picking up one of the following items to donate to our House ( or check out our  Amazon Wishlist  for easy delivery):
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Paper towels
  • Liquid hand soap
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Liquid dishwasher soap
  • Multipurpose cleaner
  • Plastic forks
  • Food storage bags (sandwich, quart and gallon needed!)
Corporate Spotlight:  Indiana Institute of  Real Estate Management (IREM)

The Indiana Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) has been in the business of helping keep our families families together and near the care they need for a long time. In 2006, IREM, an "international force united to advance the profession of real estate management", started an annual 5K event now known as Heroes for the House. Over the last 12 years, this event has grown and flourished, with hundreds of participants who turn out to support our families and raise thousands of dollars each and every year -- but their support doesn't stop there!

In addition to hosting their annual event, our friends at IREM also support our families through an annual apartment sponsorship. To date, IREM has raised more than $175,000 (and counting!) through their Heroes for the House event, served dozens of meals and helped bring comfort and care to countless RMHCCIN families.

Thank you IREM for your continued dedication to the RMHCCIN mission and for all that you do to help make our House a "home" for thousands of families each year.

Fun Fact #6: Did you know Mac, our Chief Cheer Officer, just celebrated his second birthday?

Our cuddly ball of fur, aka Chief Cheer Officer, Mac's big day was  July 27!

Mac was gifted to our House in early
2017 by our friends at Ultimate Canine. As an Australian labradoodle, Mac does not shed and is hypoallergenic, which means he gets to play with all of the children at the House, even those who may have a suppressed immune system or be  allergic to other dogs!

Since his arrival, Mac has provided endless amounts of cuddles, snuggles and love to our families (and just as many to our staff and volunteers!) who often come to our House missing pets they've had to leave at home. In that time, he's also ran hundreds of "zoomies", gone through many tennis balls and discovered many new spots to nap. Our House has not been the same since Mac joined our team and we are incredibly grateful to have him as a part of our RMHCCIN family.

Here's to you Mac and to many more years!

Donating your time and talent to the Ronald McDonald House can be a rewarding experience and a real gift to the families staying at the House.
