It has been a busy July here at Bailey & Wyant, PLLC. Alongside our work, our staff has been able to take advantage of a variety of events offered this month.

Our Marketing Director, Meghann Ferguson, attended Generation Charleston's Business Insider Event.

The panel included young West Virginians who have taken  entrepreneurship and helped our area grow. The business panel led to an open dialogue of the current WV landscape for young creatives to pursue their passion and create a career sharing that passion with our area. Panelists discussed the very supportive Charleston community that continues to be a source of encouragement along the way.

Observations from our Summer Clerk
As the Summer Associate for Bailey & Wyant, PLLC, I have experienced the inner-workings of defense litigation. I was able to take my education outside West Virginia University College of Law and refine my skills and instincts alongside a talented group of litigation attorneys.

Over the past two months, I've been granted the opportunity to attend numerous hearings all over the state, attend depositions of fact and expert witnesses, draft motions and court orders, write deposition summaries, and conduct a number of research assignments on various case law with accompanying legal memorandums detailing my findings. Law firms who hire summer interns should strive to meet the bar Bailey & Wyant has set in regards to the type of training that they provide their interns. The involvement in actual legal practice that I have participated in during this internship has been outstanding and I would encourage future law students to seek out an internship with Bailey & Wyant, PLLC.

Finally, I would like to say thank you to the members of Bailey & Wyant for presenting me with the opportunity to gain practical experience in the law field. What you have given me in terms of training and mentorship  has better acclimated me for a career in law and inspired me to work hard pursuing my passion.
