Policy & Community Education |
On February 6, 2018 approximately 200 advocates came to Albany
t
o urge legislators to fu
nd child care and early
ed
ucation programs. This effort was led by the Empire State Campaign for Child Care and Winning Beginning NY.
The group of participants was composed of CCR&R staff, parents, providers, advocates and business owners.
In addition to a successful rally and many legislative meetings,
over 100 tweets were
sent out that reached almost 60,000 accounts with over 150,000 impressions.
While the federal government recently invested additional funds into early education programs, we continue to urge the state of New York to also invest in our young children and families. Thank you to all
those that made the trip to Albany and fight for NY's young children every day!

I
nitiated as part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, the Child Development Council has partnered with parents, government, businesses and nonprofits to view and discuss the acclaimed documentary series: Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of our Nation. In 2017, 140 people were engaged
in community discussion, 85 so far in 2018, and even more anticipated as the year progresses. The series highlights what we can do better for our babies and for our nation in
terms of child development, policies, quality early care and education, economic benefits,
impact of toxic stress, and epigenetics.
