Volunteer Spotlight:

Kara Looney
What is your occupation?
I stay home with our four children while supporting my husband in our businesses.

What brought you to Northwest ISD as a volunteer?
I wanted to be involved and learn how to best support our teachers, schools and children.

How long have you been volunteering with NISD?
I signed up to volunteer the day my oldest entered Kindergarten!  I have been volunteering in NISD for seven years.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering with NISD?
I love interacting with so many wonderful teachers, staff, parents and students at Seven Hills and Chisholm Trail; and learning how to support and advocate for them.  The best part of volunteering is supporting our schools in the success of the kids, and helping to create opportunities to build community.

What was your favorite activity/hobby as a child?
As a kid, if I wasn't in church, I was in the gym.  I spent most of my time competing in gymnastics.

"Kara's leadership as PTSA President has demonstrated the essence of what it means to be true partners in the education of our students," Chisholm Trail Middle School Principal Matrice Raven said.  "She understands the dynamics and importance of maintaining a strong partnership between home and school and is such a vital part of our school community!"
