MMA, AMA Co-Brand Flyer on Medication-Assisted Treatment
To fight the country's opioid epidemic, the MMA has teamed up with the AMA to produce a flyer that illustrates the proven benefits of using Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and removing barriers to its use. The MMA has also developed a separate fact sheet, which provides information on how physicians can obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine.
Immediate Vacancy Available on MMA's Policy Council
The MMA's Policy Council has an immediate vacancy for a member from the northeast part of the state. The Council provides a representative mechanism and simplified process for obtaining broad member input, feedback and ideas on critical health policy issues facing Minnesota physicians. Input Needed: Board Certification Survey
Have input on the value of board certification and the certification process? Minnesota physicians can give their opinions on board certification in a survey from the American Board of Medical Specialties. The survey is open through April 20.
CMS Extends MIPS 2017 Data Submission Deadline to April 3
Eligible clinicians participating in the Quality Payment Program (QPP) now have until April 3 at 7 PM Central Time to submit their 2017 MIPS performance data. You can submit your data using the new feature on the QPP website.
Thank a Physician: Tomorrow is National Doctor's Day
Tomorrow, March 30, is National Doctors' Day, a time to acknowledge and celebrate all the hard work of fellow physicians. An AMA survey of 1,200 physicians and physicians-in-training found that despite the current challenging health-care landscape, nine in 10 of the respondents said they are satisfied with their career choice. Half of those who pursue medicine consider it a calling, and three-quarters of physicians said they are motivated by the opportunity to help people above all else. Seventy-three percent of those surveyed said they knew before they reached the age of 20 that they wanted to become doctors, and nearly one-third knew before becoming a teenager.
