Alumnae speakers with the Women's Empowerment Club members.

 Alums Return to SCA for Wome n's Empowerment Panel
Kristina Dabovic, PharmaD '02,  Brunilda Nazario,  MD, '77, and Qiana Mickie '93 returned to campus on March 14 to talk with juniors and seniors about Women's Empowerment. They told their unique stories.

The event was organized by the Women's Empowerment Club and Christina Antico '05,  English teacher, Technology Integration and Scholarship Coordinator .

Catharinite Networking Event in NYC
SCA held its inaugural Networking Event in NYC on March 22. Hosted by  Kathleen McCarrick Weiden '75 at her offices at the LeFrak Organization in midtown, the event brought alumnae from the 1960s through the 2000s together for evening of networking and socializing.

" I truly enjoyed my time at the Alumnae Networking event in NYC," said Danielle M. Pennacchia '04. "It was wonderful to learn about everyone's career path and for others to hear about the exciting developments at SCA, such as the new entrance."

The plan is to create networking events in other locations.  If you are interested, please contact [email protected].


Spring is finally here. Celebrate Easter with an alumna's family tradition of Sausage Pie, by Stephanie Dobies Mullen '83.

Students Highlight Water Scarcity Issue
with PSA Project for International Studies Class

Myka Coburn '18 and Atiana Gonzalez '18 created a PSA for their International Studies Class about the water scarcity and pollution issues in the Middle East. " The goal of the International Studies class is to make students aware of the current issues surrounding our world outside of the U.S.," said Kristen Muschio, social studies teacher. "It is important for students to play an active role in their education. This PSA project is one of many we do in International Studies to give students opportunities such as this. I am so proud of Atiana and Myka for their hard work and creativity!"

SCA Students Join in National Walkout
The SCA community joined in the National Walkout against Gun Violence on March 14. Students, faculty, administrators and staff walked around the block of St. Catharine's as well as held a prayer service.  They were encouraged by many passing motorists who honked their horns in support.

         
Students attend Alvin Ailey Performance 
with support from SCA's Ballet Fund

This year, SCA students preparing for their Spring Performance had the opportunity to see The Alvin Ailey II Company on their opening night. The Modern Dance company performed three works:  Road to One, Touch & Agree, and Breaking Point. Janika Hawthorne, dance teacher at St. Catharine's said, "My students are currently preparing for our major performance with the Spring Fine Arts Concert on April 27th. This was great for them to draw inspiration and get a chance to see a professional company, many for the first time."

The event is supported by the Ann McMorrow Cronin '55 Ballet Fund.

St. Patrick's Day Tradition: Marching in Throggs Neck

The tradition continued as St. Catharine's marched in the Throggs Neck St. Patrick's Day Parade.
