The Bunnies, Eggs & Easter Edition |March 30, 2018
The 'Hop Into April' Edition
Dear Members,

It's an early Easter Sunday this year, and just like St. Patrick's Day a couple of weeks ago we are not going to highlight and particular restaurants this week in the updates just like we didn't for St Patrick's Day because that would be literally the entire updates. Know this though, there are incredible brunch buffets and traditional dinners being held all over our region, so reach out to some of your favorite spots and make your reservations today.

Another quick unrelated note: you will notice below more links to stories so you can follow up on your own- it's our continued effort to streamline these updates to make them a bit shorter on the face while maintaining access to more information. With that, a reminder of the new submission form for you to share your updates in this newsletter- we will continue to push this for several weeks until it becomes routine.

Click this link to submit your story for the SMMC News & Notes weekly e-newsletter. The instructions are simple to follow and it will save us about 60 minutes of formatting time each week if we all do it. That's more time we can use to focus on other projects and promote you in different ways, and over a year that adds up to an extra work week. BTW the submission link also lives on the home page of the SMMC website at www.midcoastmaine.com

Here are your SMMC News & Notes for Friday, March 30, 2018:
Chamber Updates:
April 12 @ 12 Hosting Opportunity, April After Hours at MEMA on April 12, New Advertisers for Guest Guide, Hiring Fair, Will Power & More
12 @ 12
Looking for 12 @ 12 Host for April & May
Today at noon is our March 12 @ 12 and we have a full slate of attendees looking to connect and share over lunch. These are really successful meetings and a great way to meet and get to know 11 other members. We are looking for hosts of 2018 and in particular we would like to line up the April & May hosts. Take a look at the hosting application if you're interested but essentially hosts don't pay a fee for hosting except to provide lunch for 12 people- it's that easy!

Chamber After Hours
Register Today for our next Chamber After Hours, April 12 at MEMA
Several people have e-mailed asking about the next CAH, which will be Thursday, April 12 at Maine energy Marketers Association, 25 Greenwood road in Brunswick. They are doing some very interesting work helping to combat workforce issues in the energy sector and they want to share that story with all of you. CAH is a great way to catch up with many members you may have lost track of over the winter. Come out and enjoy spring* with us and if you register ahead of time you get a custom name tag! (and MEMA gets a more accurate head count for food and such) Hope to see you there.
(* The SMMC is not responsible if spring hasn't sprung by April 12)

2018 Guest Guide Update
Calling New Advertisers
As we are beginning to finalize with past advertisers for the 2018 Guest Guide, we are starting to find which pages are available for ads for new advertisers. Now is the best time to reach out and claim your spot in the advertising. All members do get listed in the 2018 Guest Guide, but grabbing an ad is a great way to get your business noticed, and it supports the chamber to offset the cost of designing and printing 50,000 guides.
If we want to get the guide out before Memorial Day, which most assuredly we do, the drop-dead, must-have finalized deadline for ads, can't-delay-talking-to-Cory-by-date is April 20 2018. That gives us only a week to proof the book before it goes to the printer. Obviously any day before that is even better.
The ads, when compared to other advertising opportunities are very reasonable with most ads costing one penny per copy or less. With a target audience of tourists and relocators, this ad can return direct sales to your company. I hope if you're interested you will take a look at the advertising opportunities sheet that has been updated with the final timeline. Or you can e-mail Cory to set up an appointment over the next 2-3 weeks.

2018 Guest Guide Awards & Accolades Page
Awards & Accolades Page- Submit Your Info to Be Included
Did your company win an award from a magazine or other industry group that you have proof of? We want to help you tell the world about it!
Each member in good standing will be allowed to post one award or accolade about their business in the 2018 Guest Guide.  Awards must be verified. Please scan & send the award certificate or email other proof of officiality.
Please note:
Awards cannot mention other businesses in a negative way, for example “We sold more widgets than K-Mart, etc.”
We are looking for authentic awards like “Voted Best Chowder by Food Magazine X”, “a top 10 destination according to Trip Advisor in 2017” or “Won the Newsmag Best Design Award in 2014”…things like that. We will need to name the source of the award so accolades like “Best Food Around” won’t do. Thx.
