The Sacred Call to Care for Nature and Creation   

The 32nd  Annual Monastic Institute shed new light on environment stewardship for monastic community, religious, and lay ministers from various age. Driven by today's challenges on environment sustainability, the Institute chose to reflect on  Laudato Si  - Pope Francis' encyclical on the care for our common home (nature). S ixty-five participants together rediscovered our sacred call to caring for the environment and creation.  Janice Kristanti, M.Div. candidate, reports on the gathering. 

Emmaus Spotlight
 
School's IN for Summer!  A new schedule adventure dawned on the SOT Summer 2017 session-producing a small(er) gathering of students in Collegeville overall, but making for mighty week-by-week encounters in the month of June.  Between journeys to Jerusalem and excursions to St. Joe, Patty Weishaar, SOT '89 and Director of Student Services and Faculty Support updates on the Highlights from Summer School.

Alumni Highlight

Ted Ulrich, '95 and professor of theology at the University of St. Thomas since 2001, received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award in March. The prestigious award will enable him to spend nine months in India, where he will be teaching a course on Hindu-Christian dialogue, researching the 20th century Indian nationalist, Aurobindo Ghose and studying the Tamil language. 

Coming Home to Collegeville

Reunion 2017 was a fantastic event, welcoming over 60 Alumni and friends home and honoring Sr. Marianne Supan, O.P., '97. View  highlight photos, full Keynote Address by  Sebastian Gomes, '11  , Convivium reflection by Wendy Cichanski Caduff, '94 and SAVE-THE-DATE for next year: June 22-24!

Your Input Needed for A.T.S.

Saint John's University School of Theology and Seminary is seeking comments from the public about the school in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its accrediting agency.  The school will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit Oct. 23-26, 2017, by a team representing The Association of Theological Schools (ATS). Saint John's University School of Theology and Seminary has been accredited by ATS since 1969. The team will review the institution's ongoing ability to meet the ATS Standards for Accreditation.  The public is invited to submit comments regarding the school to:  Office of the Dean, Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary, PO Box 7288,  Collegeville, MN 56321 or at:  [email protected]
Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs. Comments must be in writing and must  be submitted no later than Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 .
