CEO Jerry Forte announces retirement

Recently, CEO Jerry Forte announced his plans to retire on May 30, 2018. Forte, 63, has been with Utilities for 16 years.

"It's been a privilege to serve my hometown, work with such a dedicated Utilities Board, and lead a workforce that always goes the extra mile," said Forte. "Our future is bright."

Forte's commitment to utilities safety, leadership development and strategic planning has resulted in Utilities' close connection with the community, strong financial condition and excellent service reliability.

The Utilities Board has developed a leadership succession plan and City Council is expected to begin recruitment efforts soon. Chief Energy Services Officer Eric Tharp has been named acting CEO effective May 31.
April is National Safe Digging Month

An underground line is damaged once every nine minutes because someone didn't contact 811 before digging.

Digging without contacting 811, on a small project or large construction job, increases the chance of damaging utility lines which could result in expensive repairs and even injury or death.

Call 811 or visit colorado811.org at least three days before digging to have utility lines marked. It's safe, it's free and it's the law. Visit csu.org to learn more.
Changes to on-peak hours

If you are billed on a commercial time-of-use rate, the on-peak hours change on April 1.
  • April - September: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • October - March: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Off-peak periods are all other hours plus
legally-observed holidays. Reduce costs by shifting electric use to off-peak hours.  Visit csu.org to learn more.
Powering Colorado Springs through technology

"In the next 15 years or so, we will see customers have more choices than ever before, more opportunity to control their own use and probably more opportunity to make decisions at their own level about their energy use," says CEO Jerry Forte.
