"The hardest part is picking up the phone - walking through your door changed everything.  You believed in me and my abilities.  It was so good to be believed.  Now I'm believing in myself."

Our Emergency Shelter
At Victoria Women's Transition House (VWTH), the heart of our programs and  services is the 18-bed Emergency Shelter. We provide safe, supportive shelter at a confidential location for up to 30 days for women, with or without children, who have experienced physical, verbal, financial, emotional or sexual abuse in their intimate relationships.

Supported by on-site staff 24 hours a day, we offer emotional support and counselling, including counselling for children who have been exposed to domestic violence and abuse. We help women to develop safety plans and offer weekly support groups on issues such as self-esteem, assertiveness and boundaries.

Many of the women who come to the Shelter fleeing abusive situations have very few resources.
We connect them to community programs and services, provide information for income assistance, housing referrals, and legal resources.

For residents who are unable to bring belongings with them, we provide new clothing and toiletries. Thanks to our partnership with Soups Sisters Victoria and Camosun Culinary Arts program, we are able to regularly provide women and children at the Shelter with home-made soups. Donor Cultivation Breakfast - Hopeful Futures

On Thursday, March 15th, VWTH hosted a breakfast to spread awareness about VWTH programs and services and to encourage members of the community to contribute.

Each table seated a current VWTH supporter, three non-donor guests, and a program staff member. Everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast while making new friends and connections. Staff gave presentations and guests were deeply moved by the testimony of a VWTH client. She spoke to the positive impact that VWTH has had upon her and her family, and how the programs provided the support she needed to rebuild her life.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone present, over $2,000 was collected to support VWTH programs and services.
