WELCOME TO RUTIZ FARMS
The recent cold weather ( and rain ! ) have certainly slowed down the growth of the plants on the farm. Not as much variety to offer to our customers as what we will see going into the spring...but that makes everyone more excited when new things start to come in later on.
Luckily, we have other "like minded" growers that I can count on to provide us with a variety of tasty, freshly harvested fruits and veggies.
We are now stocking BeeWench Farms bone broth...Chicken Bone Broth made with BWF Chicken Bones, Organic Carrots, Organic Celery, Organic Onions, Organic Garlic, Organic Black Peppercorns, Organic Turmeric, Organic Parsley Flakes and Sea Salt We have a supply of the frozen bone broth in jars that are available for sale on all of our Stand days.

What's in this week's Box
Grown on our farm using organic farming methods:
radish, fennel, salad mix, carrots, potatoes,
The vine ripened tomatoes are grown by Debbie Chamberlin in the Salton Sea are of Southern California...picked fully ripe for great flavor...pesticide free.
The Zutano avocados are grown by Dave Righetti...pesticide free.
The Mandarin oranges are grown by Friend's Ranch in Ojai...pesticide free
The apples are grown by Cuyama Orchards near Cuyama Valley...certified organic.
Use the
fennel bulb as you might use an onion...cut up the white bulb portion and add to a stir fry...it will give you a mildly, sweet licorice flavor. You can also use the white bulb portion to make a salad by finely shaving and adding to salad greens.
The "
Sierra Gold" potatoes are great for baking, roasting, mashing or frying. No need to peel off the outer skin, just scrub off the dirt and cook with the skins left on ( much of the nutrients in a potato are in the skins!). They have a nice sweet taste and a yellow, creamy insides.
