Journey through Lent 2018 at St. Anthony's
REFLECTIONS FROM THE PEWS
Wednesday of Holy Week
March 28, 2018

Reflecting on this Holy Wednesday, the following verses from today's readings stood out to me. "Morning after morning he opens my ear that I may hear; And I have not rebelled, have not turned back. The Lord is my help, therefore I am not disgraced; The Lord God has given me a well trained tongue, that I might know how to speak to the weary, a word that will rouse them. Morning after morning he opens my ear that I may hear." Rick and I have the honor of serving people in Davenport and from all around the world at our little cafe, Cafe D'Marie. We sit just outside of downtown Davenport, right off the quaint stretch of 1800s brick road. A humble, yet full place of love, busting out at the seams with beautiful patrons who have become like family. Over the years we have seen the generosity and love of people just flowing in the door like a fresh stream. Coming and going people share their experiences. This warm feeling of love goes beyond a business it has become a place to share God, to share our beliefs in God, to share about a common belief in Jesus and express our love for how Jesus is so ever present in our lives and blesses us with everything we have.

We have turned a restaurant into a welcoming place for Christianity and most importantly, an expression of it. When we serve food, we serve it with God as the spice and the main ingredient. That makes it different, heavenly, not just palatable. The love of God is in our heart, mind and food and people hear us speaking that is the one reason we are here with lines out the door daily. So we spread Jesus in all we do and in doing that HIS LOVE returns seven fold. Make your life full with Jesus, make your business full of Jesus and you will have all you desire.
